we arrived at our self catering rondavels in the nice camp near the river with lots of big shady trees, and as we were taking out our packages of food some monkies which are abundant there grabbed 3 eggs and ran away....we bought new eggs in the camp store, the camp is in an area with lots of elephants and... The receptionist who checked us in set the tone for our brief stay - she could not have been more charming, friendly and informative. We had 2 simple 3 sleeper bungalows with cooking facilities, and whilst they might be a bit dated they were clean and comfortable. We had planned to prepare our own dinner but one of the waiters... Although I only spent one night here, there were things I noticed that should be improved. The selection of foods, etc., in the rest camp store should be improved, and the prices examined carefully. They seemed much too high as compared to Skukuza and others. The cottage I stayed in was comfortable and clean, although the decor is circa-1968. Clean... More

We stayed at the Melville House, one of two large and much more expensive guest houses - accommodating up to 9. It has its own private garden, a beautiful setting overlooking the river, with a built in braai, bushbabies playing in the trees at night - could not ask for more ! The house itself is aged with 1970's decor... More

We loved our stay here in one of the family cottages. Beautiful view over the river. One bathroom could have been cleaner though. Although the camp shop is well stocked, the service there is poor. Front reception very friendly but very bureaucratic. Service at the deli was poor.

This rest camp does not have much of a view. The accommodation, although old, is neat and clean. The shop was a big disappointment - the food they sold was poor quality, very expensive, and they did not have much of a selection.

Stayed here for one night in one of the rondavels and was dissapointed. It all looks quite nice from the outside, but once your inside it feels like you're being thrown back in time. Accommodation looks shabby and although it wasn't really dirty the whole look gave that feeling permanently. And all of this at a price which you expect... More

We stayed in a large 2 bed roomed cabin that would sleep 8 easily. Although the accommodation was very basic, it was clean and we had an awesome view overlooking the river. This is a great base for exploring the north of the Kruger Park and some great driving routes to follow close to the camp. There is a swimming... More

The Letaba rest camp in the Kruger is one of the main camps. A lot of elephant have been sited in the area and whenever we go there, we see plenty of the huge beasts. The accommodation is basic, but clean, neat and basic. There is an outdoor 'kitchen' with a stove and braai (barbeque) place. The restaurant is a... More

Overall, the game-viewing in the central section of Kruger can't compare with the south, but within 10 km of the camp we had all our best sightings, so the location has that going for it. Within the camp it was spacious, quiet and cool with plenty of large trees for shade and a great river view. We requested a bungalow... More
