Apparently, we found the right time to come to Shishangeni: for two nights we were the basically only guests (there was another local family for one night, but they just joined us for a game drive). My co-worker and I stayed at the main lodge and my bungalow was just perfect: nice spacious room, very comfortable bed, safe in the... More

We were supposed to stay at Camp Shongu but were upgraded to Camp Shawu (with watering hole). It was brilliant. 4 units only (with electric fence), basically a wooden frame with thatch roof and mosquito netting and canvas for walls. Wooden floors, leather seats and couches, a bath tub in each unit, outdoor shower, toilet. The hippo's kept on making... More

We stayed at the main lodge and were treated like VIPs. The staff went out of their way and our Ranger Victor was the best. Food was good and the bola unbelievable. Rooms were clean and offered spectacular views. Wifi is slow but we did not mind as we were on Holliday. The General Manager was always around to ensure... More

My Wife and I spent two days at the lodge while we went on safari. The safaris totaled 4 and were led by a very competent and knowledgeable guide, the lodge however, was something of a disappointment. The room that was allocated to us was a detached cottage quite large in size connected to the main lodge by a boardwalk... More

I stayed at Camp Shawu recently and found that there were many things that required maintenance attention. The cushions outside were sun bleached and threadbare. The tent material inside could not be secured so the wind would cause the wood weights to knock against the wood walls. This is unacceptable considering the price they charge. The staff were friendly and... More

My husband and I have traveled all over the world .. South Africa and especially the Shishangeni Lodge, Camp Shawu was amazing and one of our best experiences. No need to ever go on a game drive, the animals came right to the watering hole! We probably could have seen the big 5 right there! The food was very good... More

Together with my wife and two of my children (aged 7 and 4), I stayed at Shishangeni for 2 nights recently. We all enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly, especially John who welcomed us at the lodge and Phillip our game ranger. I experienced their friendliness as completely sincere. The rooms were comfortable and large. The staff put two... More

We stayed at Shishangeni for 2 nights - it was the experience of a lifetime. From the moment we arrived the staff were there to assist. They were friendly, efficient and the ranger (Simon) who was our ranger for all 4 safari drives, was unbelievable. He was extremely knowledgable, passionate about the wildlife, had funny anecdotes to tell, kept us... More

The game drives were absolutely fabulous with a 5 star expert guide (Simon). The accommodation was great and the experience of an early morning (05:00) outside shower at 6 degrees C will stay with me forever. However, I expected a more holistic 4 star experience from a 4 star rated lodge in such a fantastic environment. What the lodge presented... More
