We recently stayed at the Luxury Room for two nights and had a very enjoyable stay. The host, Cynthia was warm and extremely accomodating, e.g. she accomodated my very specific dietary requests and arranged large & tasty take-away breakfasts for early on the 2nd morning. The rooms very clean however the kettle was old and could have been cleaner. Views... More

We stayed for three nights, which I is - I guess - longer than most people as we never saw the same people at brekfast or dinner. We arrived in the afternoon after a 5 and a half hour drive from Johannesburg (on very dangerous roads with loads of massive potholes). We knew from tripadvisor that the last 8km would... More

Got a free upgrade to a river-facing cottage with beautiful views on strolling impalas (no hippos though they apparently walk by quite often). Great dinner on the wodden terrace with views into surrounding jungle. Very authentic interior design and welcoming staff. Be aware that there is no A/C in the room, which didn't bother us but could be a problem... More

We drove to Wilderness Lodge from Jo'burg via the Panorama Route (Sabie, Graskop, God's Window etc) which is a recommendation by itself and which you should plan enough time for. Coming from the busy city, the lodge was truly a place of relaxation and tranquility. Our room was a pretty roundhouse with a small kitchenette and you could spot all... More

We needed to stay somewhere after leaving Kruger and before visiting Blyde River Canyon. This turned out to be a great choice. The service was brilliant from the moment we arrived until we left. Dinner and breakfast on a balcony overlooking the Blyde River were also excellent as was the sandwich I had in the afternoon. Visitors should be aware... More

Amazing location in the middle of a game reserve. Beautiful, spacious room with a big balcony overlooking the river were hippo's and crocs live. We had dinner in the restaurant: a set 3-course dinner. Really delicious food and great wine. Staff is very friendly. We'll absolutely come back!

We rented the Owl House for 3 nights in October (self catering). The drive through the small private game reserve was a lovely surprise to everyone because we didn't expect to see zebra and giraffe again having just left Kruger NP behind. The welcome from Cynthia was genuine and helpful. The 2 downstairs bedrooms were excellent, the kids found the... More

'Wilderness' is a good description, as this lodge is away from the top tourist trails, without its own game park (some giraffe and zebra around though) or any organised trips of its own. It's also fairly basic by lodge standards, although perfectly comfortable. But it's convenient for the Panorama Route and there are plenty of activities not far away, and... More
