We drove to Wilderness Lodge from Jo'burg via the Panorama Route (Sabie, Graskop, God's Window etc) which is a recommendation by itself and which you should plan enough time for. Coming from the busy city, the lodge was truly a place of relaxation and tranquility. Our room was a pretty roundhouse with a small kitchenette and you could spot all... More

We needed to stay somewhere after leaving Kruger and before visiting Blyde River Canyon. This turned out to be a great choice. The service was brilliant from the moment we arrived until we left. Dinner and breakfast on a balcony overlooking the Blyde River were also excellent as was the sandwich I had in the afternoon. Visitors should be aware... More

Amazing location in the middle of a game reserve. Beautiful, spacious room with a big balcony overlooking the river were hippo's and crocs live. We had dinner in the restaurant: a set 3-course dinner. Really delicious food and great wine. Staff is very friendly. We'll absolutely come back!

We rented the Owl House for 3 nights in October (self catering). The drive through the small private game reserve was a lovely surprise to everyone because we didn't expect to see zebra and giraffe again having just left Kruger NP behind. The welcome from Cynthia was genuine and helpful. The 2 downstairs bedrooms were excellent, the kids found the... More

Stayed here for one night on the way to Kruger, lovely pool, nice rooms and very friendly staff. Dinner was good but not outstanding but the entertinment provided by the staff while chatting at the bar was exceptional!

'Wilderness' is a good description, as this lodge is away from the top tourist trails, without its own game park (some giraffe and zebra around though) or any organised trips of its own. It's also fairly basic by lodge standards, although perfectly comfortable. But it's convenient for the Panorama Route and there are plenty of activities not far away, and... More

We enjoyed our stay at the Lodge, the rooms are beautiful and the setting next to the river exquisite but still it wasn't exactly what we expected. We stayed in one of the luxury double rooms that reminded us more of hotel style accommodation better suited for business trips. Nonetheless the stay is good value for money.

Dear Amorie, Hope you are well, Thank you for taking your time to review Blyde River Wilderness Lodge. We are surprised that you experienced the room as better suited for business trips. We do have an all African/bush theme in all the rooms, slate floors, wooden deck with river view, the bathroom covered with a thatch roof etc. We would... More

We got a good price for our accommodation from booking.com! Food was a bit pricey for South Africans however Braai facilities and self catering would be perfect. GPS co-ordinates were incorrect and cel phone number on booking.com which we contacted when we were lost went to someone who could not speak English! Please correct both of these errors! Otherwise, accommodation... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking your time to review Blyde River Wilderness Lodge, we hope you are well. Thank you for your feedback on the GPS co-ordinates! We checked them with our own GPS as this is of course very important to us. The co-ordinates leaded us to the beginning of our Dirt Road. (From that point you can... More

Having spent 6 days in Kruger and surrounding wildlife reserves, and on the way to Thaba Tholo, we stayed overnight at Blyde River Wilderness Lodge so that we could have an early start to travel the length of the Blyde River Canyon. The whole place is very relaxing, with the tranquil sound of the Blyde River always in earshot; the... More

We had a great stay here. Beautiful location (with instructions from the site it easy to find!) and big and beautiful rooms. Friendly staff. It is in the middle of nowhere so you have no other restaurants to go to. But that is not a problem because we had twice diner at this place and it was really good.
