It's a fantastic place to stay! From the drivers who take you to and from the lodge to the owners and lodge workers themselves, they are all wonderful, nice people. Nothing was too much and they always went out of their way to help you. The place was quiet, clean, affordable, and they provided some amazing food. If there is... More

The two saving graces of Matumi; the bedrooms are quite nice, and the hotel manager is a fantastic lady, who really went the extra mile. However: The food is APPALLING, the pool is green and they 'don't know why', the dining area is freezing, and staff and owners were intermittently rude or totally ignorant to your presence, the bathrooms are... Stayed here in July 2014. Booked first for 4 nights before moving on to a wildlife rehabilitation centre, we liked it so much we changed our plans and came back again half way through our holiday! I can't tell you how helpful and accommodating Renie (the manager) was with everything! From advising us on what to do during the day,... More

The lodge is managed by a very friendly management, which provides a very welcome and friendly atmosphere. The lodge is currently fully renovated by the new owner and therefore everything is very new. Especially the brand new bed sheets and blankets are of very high quality and assure a good night sleep.

Lovely accommodations and friendly staff. Nice place to relax as well as a base for safari. Comfy bed and hot water. Was booked via a group tour but happy to recommend. Food pretty good. Could do with a coffee machine to help with early morning starts. :-)

The staff at this lodge are in my opinion what makes me want to recommend this lodge. The staff are friendly and are hospitable who go out of their way to make the guests at their lodge feel comfortable for their stay. The staff were very accommodating for each guest and were flexible in the preparation of meals for breakfast... More

The Matumi Lodge reopened lately in summer 2014. It is a very nicly restaurated lodge and run by a family. People are incredible friendly and helpful. There is not really a negative point to mention about this lodge.

We have recently returned from this lodge. Initially we were disappointed that the pool was still under construction and that we were the only guests, just 3 of us, so very quiet in the evenings, with no other guests to talk to. However, Rienie, who seemed to be managing just about everything, went out of her way to ensure that... More

To meet with my friends who were travelling already for 1 week in South Africa, we decided to go somewhere close to the Kruger National Park. The Matumi Game Lodge was a very good choice being close to the Orpen Gate. We loved our little "African" house, the pool, the atmosphere and the friendly and warm welcome of the owners... More
