This hotel does itself a disservice by aiming for 5 star rating it's better described as a lovely boutique hotel offering a uniquely tranquil experience. With only 19 rooms you get a wonderfully personal experience. They have the Gigi restaurant with fantastic food. You are a short drive to the Ballito beaches, shopping or golf.

We had two very relaxing nights at hotel Izulu. Brekkie was absolutely delicious and the Durban curry at the restaurant was very tasty and there was even a very unique cat keeping us company. The bed was very soft and the bath and shower both big enough to fit us both. Actually, everything was very spacious and had a very... More

We stopped here for one night on our way to a Safari Camp and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the accommodation . The bedroom is large and all the staff were helpful and friendly . It's in a good situation for getting onto the motorway north or south and the shopping mall is two minutes away with... More

I spent 3 weeks at the hotel in early March on a family visit. The rooms are not 100% wheelchair friendly but if you are able to adapt there's no problem, the grounds and access to the hotel really need some serious attention. There main entrance requires some type of ramp for easy access, I had to call someone every... More

Landed at King Shaka airport with our 16 month-old son, and drove up to Balito to recharge for a night before heading on: the staff were superb, right from providing a welcome drink to parking our car for us. The hotel has relatively few rooms (4 per block, if I remember correctly, and I would say 5 blocks or so),... More

We returned to Hotel Izulu for a 2 night stay, 7 years after holding our wedding there. The hotel was still as magical as we had remembered with spacious rooms and great service. It was so nice to get off our international flight and be relaxing in the pool with a glass of bubbly within an hour of landing. We... More

We were only looking for a place to stay for a night on the way down from the battlefields to Durban Airport. From the moment we checked in, Hotel Izulu had us wishing we were staying longer, to take better advantage of the fabulous rooms and excellent service. The rooms - bedroom and bathroom - were huge and beautifully appointed.... More

If you suffer from claustrophobia then this is the hotel for you. The rooms are huge and the bathrooms are fabulous. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast good. We only stayed one night as a stopover for Durban airport which was only 25 mins away. The hotel is next to a massive new shopping centre, so that isn't... More

Loved the stay. The staff were amazing, they were professional, friendly and cared about our every need. The room was luxurious and beautiful. Absolutely loved our stay. Will definitely be going to there again.

It is a pleasant small hotel, where the staff are friendly and helpful but the hotel needs a serious upgrade to be called five star. We stayed in the suite which was nice with a large bathroom. But the walls could do with a paint and a larger television with more channels. The dining area for breakfast needs the most... More
