We have just returned from a week in Castleburn and what a fantastic experience. We arrived late the Friday night due to the fog and was greeted by very friendly staff and handed a complimentary sherry to drive out the stress and cold of the long trip. We immediately sat down for dinner in front of a marvellous fire place... More

Castleburn is a tastefully designed resort within viewing distance of the Drakensberg mountains. It's not right on the cliff-face, but the views are still fantastic. The key to this resort is the beautiful lake that does everything: create the scenery, attract the birdlife, provide fishing and give all the kayaking and boating opportunities for the whole family.

We really enjoyed our midweek break to Castleburn and would certainly recommend the resort to anyone looking for a relaxed Berg experience. The trout fishing is excellent, there's lots to do in the area and the resort is very well maintained and run.

This RCI resort was a very pleasant surprise and we would certainly recommend this to other travellers. There are kayaks and rowing boats on their large trout fishing lake. We explored every nook and cranny of the large lake and it was an adventure for myself, my husband and our little six year old daughter. The restaurant is just top... More

Every year in April our whole family gather from all over the country to visit this magnificent resort. This year was just as amazing as always and I'd like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who keep up this impeccable standard. We enjoyed the breathtaking views at sunset, the hiking trails, canoeing and horses but my... More

We had a good break and enjoyed our stay. The resorts gardens and views are beautiful. The winter sheets on the bed were very cosy. The chalet did however smell rather musty/damp and the floors could have done with a good wash. Internet connectivity can be a problem. We did two hikes from Garden Castle but feel the routes could... More

We had a upper level two bedroom thatch roof apartment with a beautiful view of the mountains close by. Rainy weather and overcast just about all the time which can be normal for the Berg at this time of the year, hence the advantage of the apartments which had their weber braai's under the patio roof. The chalets have their... More

Beautiful views among the mountains. Was really looking forward to a break in the berg... but was disappointed. After a long journey to get there and being very tired just wanted to check in have a hot bath and something to eat. But when i enquired on how we could go about booking for dinner i was rudely told that... More

A most spectacular and amazing resort, warm and cozy cabins with serene dams for trout fishing or just sitting with a good book and a cup of coffee, tranquil and peaceful and very private chalets with fireplaces and our family cabin had its own jacuzzi, enjoyed the facilities and hike and the horse riding was an experience not to be... Great resort. My husband enjoyed the fly fishing - the dams are stocked regularly. Accommodation was more than comfortable. But the setting is the best of all - we went in Autumn and the colours were just stunning. Lots of things and activities for kids as well.
