Surrounded by absolute beauty! Awesome fishing in the main dam, just to be out on the water early in the morning or at sun set is such a treat with the view of the surrounding Drakensberg mountain range, rolling green hills and the crispness of ultra clean air. Always a treat visiting this magic place nestled away in this picturesque... More

We had a double birthday celebration a 40 and a 60 and chose to swop time and too chalets 73 and 78. We were a little early and passed through the boom gate with a security guard who is a major asset to management. He performed his tasks with a smile and a welcome. Reception was equally welcoming with a... More

My first visit to the Berg and we were lucky enough to choose Castleburn. What a friendly and welcoming bunch of people we met on arrival. Pleasant accommodation, fabulous surroundings, great amenities. Would I return, for sure.

We spent the past weekend at this resort. Beautifully positioned around various trout dams with the splendid Drakensberg as a magnificent backdrop. The chalets were beautifully clean and in good condition. There is an air of tranquillity.....so much to do: fly fishing, kayaking, bird watching, putt putt, mini golf, walks, horse riding. Plenty for children to do too. We did... More

We have just returned from a week in Castleburn and what a fantastic experience. We arrived late the Friday night due to the fog and was greeted by very friendly staff and handed a complimentary sherry to drive out the stress and cold of the long trip. We immediately sat down for dinner in front of a marvellous fire place... More

Castleburn is a tastefully designed resort within viewing distance of the Drakensberg mountains. It's not right on the cliff-face, but the views are still fantastic. The key to this resort is the beautiful lake that does everything: create the scenery, attract the birdlife, provide fishing and give all the kayaking and boating opportunities for the whole family.

We really enjoyed our midweek break to Castleburn and would certainly recommend the resort to anyone looking for a relaxed Berg experience. The trout fishing is excellent, there's lots to do in the area and the resort is very well maintained and run.

This RCI resort was a very pleasant surprise and we would certainly recommend this to other travellers. There are kayaks and rowing boats on their large trout fishing lake. We explored every nook and cranny of the large lake and it was an adventure for myself, my husband and our little six year old daughter. The restaurant is just top... More

Every year in April our whole family gather from all over the country to visit this magnificent resort. This year was just as amazing as always and I'd like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who keep up this impeccable standard. We enjoyed the breathtaking views at sunset, the hiking trails, canoeing and horses but my... More

We had a good break and enjoyed our stay. The resorts gardens and views are beautiful. The winter sheets on the bed were very cosy. The chalet did however smell rather musty/damp and the floors could have done with a good wash. Internet connectivity can be a problem. We did two hikes from Garden Castle but feel the routes could... More
