We stayed in a private double room with shared bathroom for three nights. The room was comfortable and cosy. The shared bathroom was clean and we never had to wait long for a shower or toilet. The kitchen facilities are great. The deck overlooking the Giant's Cup and the small pool are just lovely on a sunny day. At night,... More

We stayed for 2 nights and had a terrific time. We met many nice and interesting people just hanging out in the communal house and around the fire pit. Staff is friendly and helpful, but not usually around, so there is an independent feel to the place. For the price, the backpackers was excellent. There is even fresh milk from... More

We found out about this place while in Durban, considering that in the Underberg there isn't too many options, we decided to stay here as it was close to the Sani Pass, We stayed for three nights and enjoyed every bit of the experience. We arrived around 6:30pm, and immediately got our rooms sorted by the lovely Zimbabwean woman who... More

Stayed here 3 nights and really enjoyed it. Great base to explore Drakensburg and Lesotho. Four bed dorms were a bit on the cramped side but the chill out/kitchen area and pool were great. They arrange some great tours and the guides were some of the best I experienced in South Africa

We stayed in the Sani Lodge Backpackers for two nights. It was a great location to go up the Sani Pass to visit Lesotho (which to this day is one of my favourite trips). The backpackers is well kitted and clean. We really appreciated the warm Lesotho blankets that are given for the night and the hot water bottles. Getting... More

We stayed here for 2 nights before and after our trip into Lesotho. We had a double room which was basic but comfortable. However for the second night we stayed in a rondavel which was very comfortable and would recommend this. We did the two day eastern village tour into Lesotho organised through the lodge and we would definately recommend... More

If you want luxury comfort and lots of space, Sani Lodge is not for you. But if closeness to nature, local development, fair trade and environmental preservation matter, then it is. We spent four nights, plus one night taking to 2 day eastern Lesotho tour, in the Honeyguide cottage. The cottage isn't spacious but totally adequate for four persons (two... More

The most hospitable, the best organised backpackers we have encountered so far! Sani Pass backpackers have a unique homely feel and treat their guests more like friends rather than customers. We stayed in a twin room for a night and in their campsite for 2 more nights, and enjoyed every minute in this lovely place. It is the little details... More

Thank you for taking time to write a review and for your honest constructive suggestions and comments, that help us know what guests felt about their stay with us, and where the weak areas are that need improvement. Stayed here in Dec 2013 for two nights. The owner was very nice and accommodating. We stayed at the Honeyguide cottage which I must say was a bit cramped and not entirely clean on the first day that we arrived, but they did a better job cleaning the next day. But the cottage was not the issue...the highlight of the... More

Thank you for the review. Honeyguide cottage is the smallest of the three cottages on site as shown by photos and description on our website but it does have the best view and biggest garden. A terrible pity you did not enjoy the breakfast for guests at the restaurant . For breakfast, we make our own bread, scones and muffins,... More

I took the 3 night 2 day Drakensburg package and was not disappointed. All meals and tours except drinks were included for 2100 Rands. The rondavel was comfortable which had an ensuite and a heater. The staff are fantastic and the meals provided were tasty which included dessert. On the second night it started raining, the rondavel I stayed in... More

Hi, thank you for your review. After months of drought, the heavens opened in December during your stay with torrential downpours and whilst we were happy with the rains, they did wreak havoc with one of our rondavels thatch roof. The mountains have a small millipede called locally by the name ' Chongololo' which appears with the rains. It is... More
