Had 2 nights in the stunning Red Ivory boutique self-catering cottage. Without giving too much away.... Interior Design Heaven... The cottage sits in the delightful small-ish Kuleni private game reserve..... We greatly enjoyed the 45 minute Eagle Walk, seeing the giraffe, zebra, gnu etc.... Would have liked to have done the other walks, had we had time... Bushwillow is close... More

I stayed at bushwillow cottage with my wife and parents last weekend and it was a truly special appearance that I would strongly recommend. The accommodation was extremely well equipped and designed to enable us to immerse ourselves in the wonderful surrounding wildlife. We ate and cooked outdoors in the extensive decking and barbecue area whilst enjoying the company of... More

Let me start with the staff: Victoria, Jabu, Fisani, and Jona. They were just terrific with the service with a smile attitude each of our four days at Bushwillow. You could not ask more of these hard-working people. They definitely make the experience at this lodge first rate. The lodge itself is located just 20 minutes from the gates of... More

Jeff and Sandy, What a lovely review! Thanks so much for that. From our side: it was great meeting the two of you, lovely stories and laughs. I enjoyed coming around to the lodge every evening to hear what you were up to the whole day, people so passionate about the bush. For us it was a sad day when... More

On our 3-weeks trip in different game reserves and lodges, our 4-nights stay at Bushwillow Lodge was the absolute best! A very nice and cosy spot, very friendly and helpful staff and awesome meals. And on your walking trails, you see a lot of nice animals (giraffe, warthog, zebra, nyala, duiker, etc.). We'll come back! Nico & Renée, The Netherlands.

Dear Nico & Renee, Thanks for taking time to write a review! I’m so glad you enjoyed the 4 nights at Bushwillow. We have had quite some rain and heavy storms since your visit and the game is happy to have full water holes again and a few cooler days. I'm not so sure our current guests are so happy... More

The perfect base for exploring both the Hluhluwe-Umfozoli reserve and the St Lucia Wetlands reserve. Wonderful location in a small reserve with duiker, wart hog and the giraffe greeting us in the morning, while having a cuppa on the decking of our luxury chalet Marula, which was ideal for the four of us. The accommodation was excellent, as was the... More

We stayed for 2 nights at Bushwillow and it was very hard to leave. The setting was very beautiful with animals coming right up to our private villa. The villa was very well equipped and the staff were very friendly. We wish we had more time to enjoy the place. There are many walks to be had amongst the safe... More

Wonderful, so relaxing for the first time in our married life my wife left the blinds open all night In our Tambotie chalet. The sound of the dawn chorus was something to behold. Everything was perfect. We had an evening meal the two nights we were there and we could not have had better anywhere. The staff went that extra... More

We've had a wonderful time, staying three nights in the Tambotie chalet and can recommend Bushwillow Lodge for anybody who seeks a romantic getaway close to nature without any hesitations. The overall service - ranging from delicious freshly prepared meals to excellent help with organizing trips in the surrounding area - was just amazing. The property itself is beautiful, very... More

Hi Melanie, Thanks for the review. I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with you two but you were lucky to meet the whole team. Julian and Liz are rather busy at the moment, finishing off the final chalet in the new boutique - it is all rather exciting, and we are so happy to know that guests... More

Hi Yuveka, Omashni and family, what a pleasure to have you stay and enjoy our lodge for the New Year. It was a pity that your Father lost his wallet somewhere whilst on the game drive, but he was so relaxed about it. Official Description (provided by the hotel):
We offer 3 accommodation options, all very different from each other. We aim to satisfy all possible guest wishes. We strive to provide a very personalised service, and we pride ourselves on this. Bushwillow Lodge Our catered bush lodge with reed ceilings is a home away from home, accommodating just 6 guests. Couches in the main sitting area encourage visitors to relax with a book. The open plan kitchen means that guests can see and smell the honest home-cooked food being prepared for them where it shall be served either outside on the main deck or inside on the large eucalyptus table. The bedroom chalets with huge windows offer seamless views of the surrounding bush and are cosily furnished with wood and textured fabrics in rich colours. The jacaranda bathroom vanities are adorned with handcrafted basins and the frameless shower and free standing bath provide an interesting mix of old and new. Each bedroom has its own private viewing deck. Wooden walkways link the chalets to the main lodge and its pool deck where guests can come together and share their day's stories over a sun-downer. This is the place to stay should you want that authentic African feel and have your breakfast and evening meals prepared for you. Bushwillow Cottage Originally a farm rondavel this cottage has been lovingly renovated so that it blends sympathetically under tall and rare Lebombo-Wattle trees. It is a perfect self-catering getaway for up to 4 adults and 2 well behaved children. The rondavel offers a tastefully decorated lounge and well-equipped cottage-style kitchen. The two bedrooms are located off the central rondavel. One bedroom has a king bed with en-suite showers (indoor and outdoor) whilst the other bedroom has twin beds that can be converted to a king bed. Both bedrooms have pullout beds suitable for children and wingback chairs where one can sit and relax when wanting that quiet time. The thatched ceilings offer warmth to the cottage, and the deep beds with comfy headboards and crisp linen provide guest comfort. The open veranda with outdoor lounge furniture is a great place to unwind and watch the passing giraffe as one sits under the fans. There is a spa bath situated on the outside main deck where one can relax in the evening as the sounds of the African night spell romance. For families and friends, there is a gas braai on the outside deck which brings everyone together and where cooking is a pleasure. Bushwillow Boutique Contemporary design, high ceiling timber chalets with wooden floors combine quirkily with bright colour schemes and invigorating styling. Self-contained and spacious with stackable doors and lots of glass allow the bush to seep into the airy and vibrant rooms, providing an energetic contrast. Crisp linen, individuality and privacy guarantee a restful stay. Each chalet has its own kitchen, private viewing deck and a cooling pool in which to wallow. Perfect for couples who want to self-cater though it is also possible for Boutique guests to book an evening meal at the main lodge or have breakfast provided in their chalet fridge. ... more   less
