We stayed here a couple of nights on a birding trip. The grounds themselves were great for birding, with several well-maintained trails. The rooms are in individual cottages, new and clean. Power was a bit on-and-off during our stay but never a bother. Very good food in the dining room and a nice bar with cold beer and friendly hosts....

I have stayed here 3 times so far, and would happily stay 3 times more! There's something special about waking up, sitting on the secluded decking and watching nyala watching me drink my morning coffee. Emma and Anton and staff were friendly and personable. Accommodation is new, clean and highlights the attributes of the area. Food was delicious and well-presented. Staff were keen to answer all questions and enhance the visit as much as possible. I recommend this lodge.

What a lovely discovery. After a few hours on the road in Pongola (they can be interminable...) it was wonderful to be greeted by Anton and Emma. Umkhumbi is quiet and tranquil - a hidden gem.
Meals are tasty and the company great! The accomodation is super too! Our 3 year old loves to explore the bush for "gogga's" and there are so many surrounding places to explore during the day.
