I came here for one night on my way to the Drakensberg Mountains and felt like I was staying with long lost relatives! Pat and Keith were so friendly and helpful and I even had a cup of tea offered before I'd crossed the threshold. Such a cosy welcoming place and perfect for anyone wanting a bit of peace and... This is nice, clean place, with friendly hosts, who know a lot about the city and surroundings. It has a family atmosphere. This is not a party hostel. It is a good place for travelers. It has a swimming pool. Shops are nearby, although your own transport (a car) would be helpful. It is well maintained.

When we came to Durban after a one week safari-trip we felt home immediately because of Keith and Pat. They were just such lovely people to be with! They brought us everywhere with their car, gave good information about where to go and what to avoid and always had a smile. The cabin was very cosy, it had all we... More

Keith and Pat make there guests feel very welcome, and inviting you into their home. They offer excellent travel advice and can make tour bookings without charging a commission, they were very concious to ensure that prices paid were very reasonable and that no one would over charge you. I even went with them to the local watering hole, market... More

Keith and Pat are truly two of the loveliest people we have met on our travels. If they weren't offering help, we were chatting into the hours of the night. We stayed for four nights in the dorms and had a fantastic time. The hostel is clean, tidy and homely. From the first cup of tea through the door you... More

Wow! I cant say enough about Keith and Pats hospitality. Nothing is too much of an ask. I have stayed in many, many guest houses all over the world, and this has to be by far the best! The private rooms are spotless, spacious, comfortable, cosy, have the softest sheets and have the best shower I have had in years... More

I planned to stay with Pat and Keith for two nights but extended for a third due to their warmth and hospitality. I was made feel completely at home by the both and was offered all the help and advice one could need. They took a genuine interest in my plans and my experience in South Africa and at no... More

I arrived in SA for the first time for a 5 day conference in Durban. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I craved for a place I could rest well from the busy conference schedule. Smith's cottage turned out to be that place and far much more. My heart rested as soon as I arrived there when Pat offered... More

After 24 hours of travelling we arrived in South Africa and Keith picked us up from the airport and brought us straight to the hostel. There we met his wife Pat who turned out to be as nice as Keith. Both were very helpfull, really lovely and made us feel like at home. Smith's cottage is a very clean place.... More
