This is a great place to stay for a relaxing and comfortable time in Durban. I stayed with a friend in the private room, it was excellent. Facilities were immaculate, always clean, and very cozy. Would definitely stay here again anytime. Probably not the best place to stay if you want to come party and get crazy, but for a... More

This is such a welcoming, relaxing hostel. Very close walk to Florida Rd bars & restaurants and also to a supermarket. Just a little longer walk to the beach. The reception area has wonderful native crafts for sale and the owner Elmar lives on site so the whole place is so well appointed with gallery style art works and beautiful... More

We stayed for 3 nights at Gibelas and loved the location of the hostel. There are so many restaurants and bars to choose from on Florida and it is only a short walk to the beach or botanical gardens whih are nice spots to relax. The backpackers is very, very clean and well run. The owner is very helpful and... More

Great to hear you enjoyed your stay at Gibela and in Durban. Our location is a great bonus being well located and within walking distance to all travellers need. February / March being the hottest months is always a challenge when it comes to heat - especially if we have long spells of it without rain. BUT with the great... More

this hostel is really unique, the owner put his heart and soul into the place and its just marvelous! When you arrive he shows you the most important things on the map and has a huge notice board for further information to make sure you get all the information you need! the facilities are spotlessly clean and the self catering... Many thanx for your review. We strive to create an atmosphere where travelers can kick back and relax. AND for those that have the time to do so have plenty of reason to do it in Durban. Gibela being ideally located to do all you need to do and see within a 30 min walk or 15 min bus ride... More

Gibela's was a great place to stay in Durban - very comfortable, had nice area to enjoy the outdoors, it was quiet, and incredibly clean! It's conveniently located a relatively short walk from the beach and is near many restaurants/bars as well as grocery store which proved very helpful. I would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in Durban.

We fell very safe and independent. The inner courtyard is fresh and has nice little places were you can unwind in private after a long day of walking around in Durban. We did the mistake of only staying tow nights in Durban, but as we realized when we arrived at the hotel, there was much more to see and we... More

Morning good to hear you enjoyed your stay in Durban. We have tried to create an oasis where there is enough space for people to kick back and relax. YUP Durban definitely gets under estimated as to what one can do. Two full days minimum is a good start. It does give you an excuse to revisit us - even... More

Everything was ok, clean and nice but still it is a hostel and we paid 1100 for two nights in a double room. Bath room and showers to share with others. Good location and manager was very knowledgable

WE make it very clear to guests what the rates are and what they get - so if they are a walk in they have the choice to find something else. If they book on line they know what they are being charged accept it - there are other cheaper options, As they say you pay peanuts you get monkeys, More

I send A nights in this hostel. They help me to find a tour for Sani Pass. This hostel is perfect if you want a quiet and clean place. 30 mn by foot to city center. Close to safe place for diner. Kitchen for cooking.

Gibela is the perfect place to stay to explore Durban! It's a beautiful and quiet lodge, though very close to the center where everything happens! The owner is a very friendly and helpful man. I will certainly go back there!
