Dangerous and crime riddled area Loud music No service No towels Dirty Smells This is the worst hotel we have stayed in during all our travels... No parking at hotel you are told to go down a seedy drug filled alley which houses a club that is full of unsavoury characters... The club has music playing throughout the night with... More

We weren't disappointed with the hotel at all. We enjoyed the breakfast, the beds we nice and comfortable. Everything was just okay. Special mention to the housekeeping team, they are very swift and thorough. Very friendly stuff. They even let us check in a little earlier than the set check in time. Public transport is easily accessible from the front... More

Booked through Expedia (Hotel New Albany) which said free internet. Internet is limited to a certain amount of MB and then you must pay. Parking was also mentioned as 24 hour period but you have to pay for each day check-in day. If you check-in at 9pm and check out the next day, you only have until check out time for... More

We turned up and were pleasantly surprised by how lovely and clean the front entrance looked. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was good slightly small but adequate for us. The bathroom was good only issue was the hot water could be iffy, it was sometimes hard to have a hot shower. The most annoying problem was there was... More

Staying at the Albany again after 20+ years, one is immediately faced with the reality of change with owners trying to bring the establishment in line with the times. With the olde world replaced by more modern furnishings and fittings, those who like me appreciated the Olde World may find it difficult to accept the "new look". The entrance has... More

Firstly the Albany Hotel is not in a safe part of Durban and you can not afford to set a foot outside after dark. Almost all the staff is very unfriendly and unhelpful. The beds are uncomfortable and our carpet seemed that it had not been cleaned in a while. After the first cleaning two of our jackets dissapeared from... More

This is a dated hotel in an excellent location in downtown Durban. They seem to be working hard to renovate the place. Several parts of the hotel are still in need of renewing, but lobby and the rooms are very nice and modern. They have also recently replaced both elevators.

We stayed here as it was very close to the Kingsmead Sahara Stadium, close to which Comrades Expo is hosted... It is perfect if you are participating in Comrades! Hotel was undergoing some construction when we were staying there and one lift was not working. Rooms are comfortable overlooking the main street. Restaurant had average breakfast option and very limited... More
