Everything was totally perfect, best place and safe to stay in Durban. A lot better than staying in city centre. Very friendly atmosphere, clean and comfortable. breakfast is awesome. we would choose this guesthouse again.

In a few words our stay in Essenwood house was unforgettable. My husband and me think we could not find better..!! It was our first experience of a holiday out of our country - I travelled almost around the world but always for a mission - and were a little bit worried. But Paddy and John made us immediately feel... More

If you are the sorts who likes security, warm people around and a helpful friendly host, this is it. the location is away from the city centre hustle bustle, and thus also away from the security concerns which plagues travellers to Durban. It is in an upper end part of Durban and the great food joints are all nearby. Your... More

This is an overall very enjoyable experience to be repeated. Old-Wolrd charm with every modern amenity added with style. The owners understand the true meaning of pampering their guests as such, not as paying clients.

A business trip was enhanced by a delightful stay at this stunning establishment. Huge bedrooms en suite with private balcony, and everything one could wish for by way of tea and coffee facilities, bar fridge, free wifi and more. An outlook onto the sea in the near distance and a beautiful pool and garden below enhanced the relaxed feeling. We... More

Conveniently located overlooking Durban, Essenwood House has large comfortable well appointed rooms, the staff are charming and always very helpful, and breakfast, which can be served on the veranda, is excellent with delicious fruit salad always available. A fantastically tranquil hotel in the centre of Durban. With some beautiful weather to aid us we so enjoyed spending the morning in the gardens. The staff deserve a fantastic mention and nothing was too much trouble.
