I stayed at this hotel in Aug 2007 for the IFLA conference at the ICC Durban (next door to HIlton) and from speaking to other conference delegates it seemed like we made the most sensible decision. The Hilton is almost linked to the ICC (short walk) Downtown Durban can be quite dangerous, and some delegates staying at hotels on the... more

I stayed for one night on 22 December 2007, before boarding a cruise ship out of Durban Harbour the next day. I've stayed in many Hilton hotels before, and this one wasn't anywhere near the best. They got my reservation wrong, even though I called the hotel directly the day before to confirm, and gave me a King room when... more

I was in town with my girlfriend and her mother for the IFLA conference. I had originally booked a hotel called The Parade on Marine Parade. After having to pay for my room in full (with no refund available) I was approached by someone out front who said for R20 a night he would make sure no one would steal... more

I'm a Hilton Honors member and have been for many years. I rank pretty highly although that and 3 dollars will get you a drop of water from the mini-bar. So I've stayed in a lot of them worldwide. This is a dull one. Restaurant was fine. Decent food if a little plain. The bar was fun. We had a... more

I recently stayed here for 2 nights, attending a meeting there. The meeting facilities are good. Nothing special but everything you need is there. The service for the meeting rooms was great - coffee, snacks, working lunches etc. all delivered quickly & delicious. The rooms are average business type rooms. Decent beds, pillows, internet access, decent TV, clean bathroom, good... more

I stayed for only one night and enjoyed it thoroughly as I was in Durban for a celebration event and was in a very good mood. I booked the room a few days earlier and got an excellent rate. I was surprised at the rate of the buffet breakfast but never saw if it could have been worth the price.... more

Was on a business trip. Location of hotel is a bit bad as it is far from the beach area and restaurants. Check in took some time as only one guy was available and our group checked in late at night. Room not good - small and average. Conference facilities not bad. A bit over charged. The most expensive hotel... more

This is an excellent hotel and it is quite obvious that the management go to great lenghts to see that the staff watch to see that their guests experience is looked after. I was greeted warmly everytime a staff member passed by. The buffet in the restaurant is excellent in the evening time. The rooms are exactly what you would... more

I've stay there 2 nights. The rooms of club level needs some refurbishment. I found them too small. The amenities of club level, instead, are more than excellent ! Their gym is too small for an Hilton hotel. more

Like many South African hotels, there is helpful staff at every turn. The rooms were clean, and breakfast generous. Conference facilities were impressive. The hotel, however, lacks character and is not in easy walking distance of good restaurants. The crime situation makes going out at night, particularly to the beachfront, problematic. Prices are reasonable by world standards but on the... more
