Hotel entrance, conference facilities and restaurants are beautiful. Food superb. Service and friendliness from the staff outstanding. Hotel venue very convenient with beautiful views, quick access to beach and promenade. Rooms a little bit disappointing. Still old fashioned and small.

Stayed in the Maharani and although we booked a disabled friendly room, were told a day before we arrived that it was being used by another guest who refused to move out, despite us booking confirming and paying for the disabled friendly room in advance- poor show!! We were then upgraded to a suite - all well and good but... More

This hotel is great. Equal or better than most international chains throughout the world. Staff are great. Rooms clean, views superb and the hotel for its size is quiet. I would definitely return or stay again but maybe when it's not peak holiday season when all the tourists are crowding the beach. Good job Sun international!

Our family room was cramped and no space. The bathroom had no ventilation and there were no place to put my baby's poo nappies, when i did in the bathroom bin it made the whole room stink. Maybe the hotel should take more pride in their family rooms to make it more convenient for the families with small kids.. But... More

Loving my stay at this property, such a pity that tomorrow I have to leave. Conveniently located to where I need to go, not to mention the fabulous morning runs. And oh, if you feel like dining in, room service is superb, I even ordered from the kid's menu no problem, I will be back.

Was on a business trip and was booked into this hotel not by choice. In general Durban beachfront has a bad reputation, and I was made aware that this hotel had been refurbished. The overall look of the hotel created a very good impression, reception staff was superb. The room was nicely furnished with two double beds, comfortable too. Good... More

Stayed here in Feb 2015. U can choose which hotel to stay at.. We opted for Maharani, and we weren't disappointed! The rooms are bigger and more modern than its sister hotel, and the hotel itself is much quieter and peaceful. It's not much of an effort to get to the restaurants and pool at the elangeni as there is... More

A good superior hotel to stay in, while in Durban. Good, clean rooms, excellent staff and good views of the ocean are what you get when you stay here. The porters outside the hotel are amongst the most helpful that I've met so far and helped me get a cab really quickly. The people at the lobby are efficient and... More

Growing up in Umhlanga, town was a place that we loved to get away but since all the change it really is not the same. My issue with this Hotel and surrounding is that the crowds are not what they used to be which has slightly pushed me away from the Hotel and restaurants. Dont get me wrong, the dining... More

The one thing that you do notice about hotel Maharani is the level of quality service. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I stayed at the maharani for business and the days when we had to leave the hotel before breakfast opened, we had breakfast bags arranged for the night before which were great! The rooms are comfortable and... More
