Touring in South Africa 8 We flew from Port Elizabeth to Durban on a very early flight where we were met by our new tour guide who took us on a tour of Durban city. Not as pretty as Cape Town, it felt less comfortable walking around. The hotel we were to stay in is called The Benjamin after the... More

I found my room, looking onto the pool, was noisy - I could hear the cars, the hooting, the car guards shouting, as well as the creepy crawly in the swimming pool was only turned off at around 9pm and that too was noisy. My bathroom had a bath/shower and there was no handle to hold on to when climbing... More

This is a very pretty Victorian hotel on a very busy 'strip'. The hotel itself has lovely rooms - especially large if you go for a twin..(see picture). The staff are welcoming and the breakfast was wonderful. On the down side the hotel is next to a drive-in KFC, and next to that is a night club. With the main... More

in safe central Durban , all rooms are like mini suites ,the hi speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel ( very rare in SA) outside the door , in Florida street are at least 6 excellent restaurants all reasonably priced. you are only 5-6 mins to the beach and only a 5 min drive from the rest of Durban.... Very few tourists from India come to these parts and we were on Terra Incognita ; very nervous and worried .The first stop on our self drive holiday in Kwazulu Natal had to be warm and comforting . It was all that and much more . A very pretty property with pleasant surprises round every corner . Very helpful staff... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at The Benjamin. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, the staff from check-in to kitchen are all very friendly and the breakfasts very good. Florida Road is located in a nice neighbourhood with many restaurants to choose from for your other meals.

The Benjamin Hotel deserves its place as the best in Durban - the check-in process was quick and friendly and our room clean, and the bed and duvet so so comfortable. We were quickly made welcome without too imposing, and the little touches - the bar, the magazines, added to a lovely weekend. The breakfast was delicious. Nothing was too... More

Lovely old building and that is as far as it goes. When making the reservation it was mentioned that it would be two people sharing. No extra preparation was made for this fact. Only one hand towel, no extra amenities. In essence breakfast for the second person cost R225.00. This was just as disappointing. I ordered scrambled eggs with pork... More

Thank you for your comments, I am so sorry that your amenities were not doubled for your stay, I can assure you that this is not the standard and that this must have been a complete mistake. Thank you for the comment on the cocktail sausages I will definitely make guests aware, and should people like more they are welcome... More
