This hotel is about four Kilometres away from the beach in what can be regarded as a safe area of Durban. We arrived late on and the check in process was so easy. The receptionist who had just started her night shift went out of her way to be helpful and her smile made us feel very welcome. She chatted... More

Quaint style hotel with great service. We were greeted with iced tea. Rooms were reasonable size, comfortable beds. Breakfast was excellent. This must be one of the few remaining Colonial style houses that was not demolished to make way for a modern restaurant. Excellent position on Florida St as there is a vast selection of restaurants and cafes.

My overnight stay in the Benjamin was uneventful. The staff were helpful and the food (breakfast) was very good. The location was exceptionally good for restaurants/bars. The bedroom was clean ad tidy but on the somewhat small side. The shower/toilet was particularly small.

I stayed at the Benjamin for nearly five weeks while on business. The staff are really pleasant and Nicole runs an efficient hotel. Breakfasts are very good and the hotel is well situated on the popular Florida Road, with some lively bars and restaurants. The old building has been well renovated, extended and modernised, but maintains a traditional feel.

This hotel was really affordable. Great service from all the staff we encountered. Lovely colonial decor and good breakfast. Off street parking and in a very central location, with great restaurants and cafes right on the doorstep. Perfect for a few days stay.

Polished service to accompany a stylish, clean and cozy boutique hotel. The breakfasts were tasty, generous and efficiently prepared. I so appreciate the last minute room accommodation over new year's! I stayed in one of the interior rooms and my parents had a room closer to the road. They weren't much bothered by the noise from the street, even on... More

Staff helpful, can't do enough to make your stay more welcoming. The rooms are a great size, clean and airy. Negative is that Florida Rd on which the hotel is situated is a very busy street, so lots of noise if you are in a room overlooking this road and parking can be quiet tight. The positive is that there... More

Our tour group stayed only one night in the hotel and it would have been nice to stay longer. Lots of restaurants in the immediate area. There is a courtesy happy hour at 6 PM so it was nice to have a drink before heading out to dinner. The front desk staff were very welcoming. Such a brief visit however,... More

Yet another good stay and The Benjamin. The location is just fantastic and makes evening dinner options easy. The Restaurant across the road has an extensive menu and can cater to all. Thanks to Nicole and the team.

We booked the Benjamin again on a repeat work visit to Durban in Oct/Nov 2014. Again a stay of 11 nights and we were, once again, very pleased with our stay. After a horrible 35 hours trip from the US to Durban (involving broken airplanes and an unexpected overnight in Joburg) we were greeted by warm & friendly faces at... More
