We read the reviews on Trip Advisor and thought that this motel would be interesting and unconventional. Sam in the front office was great and took a lot of time explaining Kingman, Route 66, and restaurants to us. We loved his dog Taco. Very cute and very smart. Does tricks and likes treats. We stayed in the John Wayne room.... More

So far, I've stayed twice at this El Trovatore Motel. The second time was for the International Route 66 Festival. In my opinion, the El Trovatore Motel is one of those "must" stay at motels if you are traveling the Mother Road. The assorted murals and neon also provide great photo ops. The motel will probably get better as the... More

Enthusiastic welcome including Taco the performing dog. Owners are in process of trying to do a sympathetic restoration of this original 1930's Route 66 motel which they have. Recently bought, the place was derelict until the new owners took it on but now there's real life in the place. They are passionate about what they are doing and like to... More

Stayed for two nights in a very large room, number 146, nice new floor and very 50's style. Hosts were very interesting and Sam has all the tips on where to go and what to see, very knowledgeable, the places he recommended we visit were spot on. Our room was clean and quiet, and although we booked the Marilyn room,... More

My wife and I spent the night with Marilyn Monroe. This is a fun funky place to stay with great, interesting hosts. Clean room, great value. We will stay here again if we are in the area. Next time my wife wants the Elvis or the Clint Eastwood room. The owners we quite helpful with suggestions. thank you..thank you very... More

I simply cannot understand the recent negative reviews. Our travelling group has 3 rooms and they are all meticulously clean with great attention to detail. This is a very old motel made wonderful by its hosts. If you want a sterile modern franchise motel don't come here .. but please have the grace to acknowledge it for what it is.

I booked this room based on all the 5 star reviews on Trip Advisor but was extremely disappointed upon arrival. My husband, father, son and I were doing a Route 66 trip and stayed in 1930ish hotels including La Posada in Winslow and The Blue Swallow in Tucumcari. The outside of this motel is cute but the rooms are in... More

May be a Route 66 gem - and for an older establishment, it is unique and average....stayed in Elvis room. But, the shower needed work- mold in places and needed some repair - Instant coffee and no hairdryer or coffeepot - REALLY???? Clean- OK - but the place feels old b/c it is and that is the charm. My biggest... More

Sam and his wife are wonderful hosts. They tell you about the town and attractions and give you a map of the town. As an older motel, it is still going through some upgrades and renovations, but the rooms are very clean and comfortable, they turn on the heat/air and tv to old classic shows. They take you back to... More

The rooms are good, not great, the wifi was not working terribly well in the room, but it was a great place to stay because of the exterior rehab and Sam the owner's great riffs on Kingman and the surrounding area. We stayed two nights, and wouldn't hesitate to stay again if coming through the area.
