I wanted to try out a couple of motels in Kingman, but I wish I had stuck with the El Trovatore !! This place reminded me of the episode in "Mad Men" when Don Draper takes to the open road. It has the 60's furniture without the flair! The tiny TV was definitely from another era and so was the... More

We were driving Route 66 and wanted the original motel experience. We had stayed in a couple others and they were fine. On arrival I went into the messy and unkempt office. I looked around and did not see anyone when I heard "May I help you?". There was an elderly man in shorts and no shirt behind the desk.... More

doesnt appear to have been touched since the 1950s! Basic room on Route 66. Pool was shut but for a real motel experience you would have to go a long way to beat it. Best value deal we had in the month away but dont expect anything over and above a £30 room.

This is a historic Route 66 property, a "mom and pop" motel. The owner is very knowledgeable about all things Route 66, if you take the time to talk with him. He has a pretty and very intelligent dog Cleopatra keeping him company in the office. The grounds are picturesque, with a large (gigantic!) and beautiful 54-year old cactus garden... More

Made reservations on our Route 66 trip and wanted to stay in one of the originals. The room STANK the carpets didn't seem like they had been cleaned in years. The person at registration was surly and the pool had tiles laying on the side and hadn't seemed to have been cleaned anytime recently. I have no intention of ever... More

The hill top motel is a great little motel to stay in while driving Route 66. It's picturesque, the staff are lovely and it's just a fun place to be. Apart from the family dollar, there's not a lot within walking distance, but chances are you have a car if your staying here!

This is not a bad little place, for the money, but even at this price it could be better maintained. I wish all these places didn't use those old, ratty flowered bedspreads -ick! The people were nice. The mattress was good. The TV didn't work properly and neither did the remote. The bathroom worked, but there was no stopper in... More

You get what you pay for with this hotel. No frills, but set in a brilliant location at the peak of the Kingman Hill with great views over the valley and down into Kingman itself. Yes the rooms are a bit outdated, yes the rooms could do with a lick of paint, but that adds to the charm of this... More

On a return trip from Flagstaff, we decided to travel the historic Route 66. We were using a Route 66 travel guide to make sure we didn't miss anything. In that book they mentioned the "historic" Hill Top Motel in Kingman. Stupidly I did not bother to look up reviews on this dump. A red flag should have popped up... More

I stayed one night here as part of a Route 66 drive, and I felt like I'd somehow been transported back to a time before tasteful decor, comfortable beds and modern electronics. Don't get me wrong, this place isn't the greatest motel, but it has bags of character, from the gaudy neon signs to the excessive wood paneling. The bed... More
