Fantastic. From the time you arrive until you leave you're taken care of in the most unobtrusive way yet feel utterly spoilt. Dinner at Mosiac is however the highlight. Flavours, aromas and sensations all top drawer. How they arent on the cover of every foodie magazine is inexplicable. Do not miss an opportunity to go.

I was invited to a Woman's Day lunch and the venue was The Orient. WOW, what a complete surprise. The décor and the rooms are spectacular and the service was excellent. Marie and her staff made us feel so welcome and special! The highlight of the day for me was the fine dining at the Mosaic restaurant. The food was... More

This hotel was absolutely beautiful, with absolute attention to detail in terms of the rooms and surroundings. I felt like I had been transported to some North African paradise, with rooms such as 'Nineveh' evoking times gone by. The rooms were fantastic, with a feeling of opulence. The 'Mosaic' restaurant had the most mouth-watering 7 course tasting menu with matched... More

What a marvellous experience! Everyone should spoil themselves to the luxury that is to be had at The Orient at least once in their lives. From the warm welcome by the staff to the sheer decadence of dinner... An outstanding trip to another world. The on site museum and cinema are a little bonus tucked into the joy, along with... More

We slept over at the Orient last week after enjoying a heavenly dinner in the Mosaic. It is a most impressive venue situated in a tranquil conservancy 30 minutes out of the hustle and bustle of Pretoria and not much further out of Sandton. The architecture, furnishings and appointment as well as the lavish display of art rank among the... More

Fantastic moorish themed boutique hotel just outside Pretoria. 9 beautiful suites all individually decorated and really plush. Great location in the Francolin conservancy and of course home of the best restaurant in the country along with the most extensive wine list. The Orient is not only a hotel, but is rather a culinary destination to be savored.

The Orient is a small boutique hotel. It is unbelievably luxurious, with amazing decor and attention to detail. My husband and stayed for one night. We loved our stay, and the highlight was the degustation menu at the acclaimed restaurant, Mosaic. This is an experience, not just a meal. The courses were beautifully presented, very innovative, and absolutely delicious. We... More

Stayed at the Orient for a weekend and had dinner in the restaurant. Great service! Great food! Great setting! What more do you need to get away from it all. One suggestion though as made by previous reviewer morning coffee could be a bit of an issue re. timing having a second cup etc. hotel would definitely benefit from in-room... More

Dear James F. Thank you for the beautiful review. I took your suggestion to heart with regards to a facility to make your own coffee in the room. Although we love to spoil our guests by serving morning coffee in the room, our guest will now also have an option to have a coffee machine in their room on request.... More

Being treated like royalty is just part of the experience. Peace, tranquility and opulence is in abundance. Then to top it all - Chantel and the Mosaiek restaurant! A world class chef preparing a gastronomic delight! Words can never describe the food - it is an experience - never just a meal. And then - the biggest wine collection in... More

The Orient lives up to expectations, the management is very welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are very interesting, very comfortable. The food at Mosaic restaurant is excellent, fine and sometimes also innovative dining. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. Breakfast was sublime! Pity that one does not have a coffee/tea facility in the bedroom suites, I tend to... More

Dear Gerhard 13071964. Thank you for your review, without your suggestions, we would never know how we can improve our guests stay at The Orient. We have implemented your suggestion and our guests now have a choice of being spoiled with coffee/tea ordering room service or having a coffee machine put in their room.Warm regards. Mari More
