Had a great stay between last October and November. The rooms were great but I would definitely advise more care regarding cleanliness. Overall we had a great stay and would for sure return and recommend! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful! I regret not having enjoyed more breakfasts and other meals!

Got in late, the "security" gate where the cars are parked was open, my room opened onto the same car park; with only a rickety glass door between me and the elements of the street; lights in the dirty room were not working; the phone broken so I could not phone for assistance; no toilet paper was provided - everything... Where do I start to say how terrible this establishment was? Much of what we experienced is similar to previous reviews: the place is NOT clean, run down and depressing. The one meal we ate was dismay - cold, no gravy and a frozen piece of chicken schnitzel slapped on the plate. The managers make a point of ignoring you.... More

I was put up here by the organisers of a conference at the University of Pretoria. Previous reviews had made me rather nervous - unnecessarily so, as it turned out. I had a wonderfully decorated room, quiet in a separate bungalow, with a large bathroom attached. It is true that nights are cold, but we were warned about this, and... More

Although the property is in a safe and good area of Pretoria, the rooms were tired- looking and could do with considerable refurbishing. In particular, the bathrooms could have a mixer for hot and cold water at the sink, sanitary ware could be of a higher quality and the floors could be carpeted. Meals were also disappointing offering no choice... More

The past weekend we decided to book a night in Brooklyn Guesthouse after reading on their website how passionate the owner is about “stylish living spaces, appetizing food”.The Tourism Grading Council’s 3 stars awarded to the Guesthouse made us look forward to spend the night there. We checked in at about 3:30, it took 2 people to figure out what... More

I stayed here for one evening. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room, which was in effect a little house of its own, was nicely decorated, well warmed by a space heater, and very well-equipped (adapter plug, iron, etc) The surrounding neighbourhood is beautiful, and the place itself has lovely internal gardens. (Do be careful on the brick paving,... More

I was planning on giving the place a rating of one, simply because that is how disappointed I was with Brooklyn Guesthouses. But then I have to give one extra just for the lovely garden, good location (nice part of town, quiet, near Brooklyn Mall), vey tasty food and friendly service from the service staff. Other than that, the experience... More

I stayed here while traveling for a conference at the University of Pretoria. I didn't have a car, so it was conveniently within walking distance (about 15 minutes) of the university. You can also walk to the mall, about 15 minutes in the other direction. It is a very pretty place. The breakfast was really nice, I thought, especially the... More

I have never stayed in South African Guesthouses but the Brooklyn Guesthouse is a treat. Some 30 rooms divided over a green area equal to a soccerfield, with a tiny pool (more a size for frogs than people). Very traditional furniture and decoration (reminds me of the Netherlands in the fifties) but definitely with a certain atmosphere. Quiet tea-garden tucked... More
