part of the Emeperor's Palace casino complex with free shuttle from the airport. Check-in was good and the rooms were huge, relatively nice. But how is it possible in this day and age not to have internet in the rooms? You could walk all the way down to the lobby and pay USD4 per 30 minutes to connect :-( good... more

This was a great hotel for a one night stay after an 18 hour flight from DC. We had an early next day flight to Cape town so wanted a hotel near the airport that offered a place to have dinner . Check in went smoothly, the room was large and modern. We enjoyed having the Emperors palace complex of... more

We (teenage son and Dad) stayed at the Metcourt Laurel on 3 different nights during our tour of southern Africa, primarily because of its proximity to the airport. For instance, we had arrived from Perth in the evening and had a transfer arranged to Sun City for the next morning, or had returned from Kruger to Jo'burg and were flying... more

My wife and I stayed at the Metcourt for 1 night recently as our connecting flight was only the next day. The hotel is more than adequate and is probably a 3 1/2 star rather than a 3 star (which is what it advertises itself as). Rooms are large and clean, restaurants are plentiful in the casino complex and there... more

Not sure where to start... had problems booking online which resulted in getting charged twice for the room, although one of the bookings evidently never showed up in their system, so had to dispute the charge with my credit card (and this was before we even got there). That said the people were nice that I spoke with, although I... more

Too expensive for the service they give. I had problems to connect to internet, there is no minibar in the rooms, and service room neither. It's quite noisy on saturday evening, since gangs og teens with their noisy cars and music too loud. The good point is that rooms are big size and it is very clean. more

We spent one night at the Metcourt Laurel after arriving in South Africa from the UK, before moving on to safari the next day. Our hotel room was huge – clean and comfortable, with everything you would expect from a reasonable chain hotel. The bathroom was fairly small, although there were two sinks and a vanity area just outside the... more

When we entered the wing of the hotel where our room was located, there was a very strong smell of paint thinner or other paint product. The smell was almost equally strong in the room, so we asked to change rooms. The one employee at the front desk (appeared to be the supervisor) was not impressed that we asked to... more

Our travel agent booked our rooms for the overnight layover in Jo'berg on our way to CCF in Namibia. Glad she did! It's a short shuttle ride from the airport. The rooms are large and clean. Very comfortable. The staff was very nice. The breakfast buffet was superb and the wait staff were very attentive and efficient. We found our... more
