My sister and her husband had their wedding at Emperor's and as part of the package, they were given their wedding night at the D'Oreale. My husband and I went to check them in after the church service and found it basically impossible to do this for them while they were taking their photos. After waiting for 20 minutes before... more

On the surface the D'oreale grande looks like a fantastic place to stay. On the contrary, the hotel is very poorly managed and can not cater to travellers that expect luxury and good service. I spent one full week at the hotel and encountered several problems each day. Here is just a taste of what I had to deal with:... more

This Hotel is excellent for transit travellers who pass one night in Johannesburg & they have a connection flight ,not for somebody who come to Johan for excursion because D'oreale hotel is very near to the airport but it's very far from city centre, forexample for going to Nelson Mondela square, we paid 350 Rand & again for return 350 Rand,totally... more

Ok, first of all, let's talk about smoking ban in South Africa. I thought it's utter straight in prohibiting people smoking in public area, no staff in this hotel cares. There were loads of asians walking around with cigarette lid (even in the breakfast room, walking up to the service counter getting food whilst smoking with ashes hanging). Don't tell... more

I spend a week or two in Johannesburg on business each year. With travelling from the other side of the world, I'm not interested in sightseeing or attractions; simply a clean comfortable room, a gym, a pool, friendly staff and some easy choices for eating. The Emperors palace part of a casino complex, and while I'm not interested in gambling,... more

We stayed at the D'Oreale Grande for two separate one night stays 23 Jan and 27 Jan. For our first stay we had actually pre-registered for the night before (and paid for it) so we could have immediate early morning check-in. We were confirmed in a Classic King (Smoking Room) directly with the Hotel. Upon check-in we were rudely told... more

The D'Oreale Grande is part of the Emporers Place complex which includes a casino, restaurants, some shops and even a roller coaster. The buildings are impressive. It is convenient to the airport but there is no airport noise. The staff are helpful and polite. The food at the hotel restaurant was quite nice but there are plenty of other choices. All... more

What a Mess!!! This was an awful stay. Thankfully we were only there for 2 nights. Some of the worst experiences were the following... 1.The front desk staff were rude and incompetent. They had no Idea what they were talking about as you always got different stories if you spoke to more than one of them at separate times about... more

Our weekend was for a birthday treat for a 55 year old extremely well travelled partner. Having read some reviews there was an element of doubt created by some of the bad reviews. However after staying there, I can now safely say to anyone ever travelling to S.A. that this is truly a 5 Star level establishment and compares favorably... more
