This small boutique hotel and its outstanding staff won my heart on our way to the Kruger Park. Staying for a few days close to Johannesburg airport, this peaceful location exceeded my expectations. Free taxi transfers, delicious home-made food, pool, birds singing in a green garden, guests seating together for breakfast or with a glass of wine around the fire... More

We enjoyed a night in this little wonderful hotel, before we went to a 3-week Safarie through Botswana and Zimbabwe. This little hotel was fabelous. I can't imagine to stay there several days, because it's nothing to do in this area and the pool area is very small. Nevertheless, the service is outstanding, the rooms are beautiful, the service is... More

Located close to the airport, this is a really nice, upscale spot with friendly service. If you're looking for a place to stay before heading off to or from from a safari that requires you fly into Johannesburg, this is it. The owners are former owners of a safari outfit themselves, and they took the time to sit down and... More

We arrived in Cape Town at 7am after 28 hours of travel and transferred immediately to the Africa Rock Hotel. Check in was not for several hours but the wonderful staff at the hotel allowed us into our room as soon as arrived. Check in was quick and efficient and we were made to feel very welcome. The owners and... More

African Rock Hotel is by far one of the most enjoyable places that we have stayed in the Johannesburg area. Located in a gated community we felt completely safe and well cared for during our visit to the area. The rooms were great, beds very comfortable, lovely decor and wonderful soaps. The owners, Otti and Zelda, went out of their... More

Forget about big airport hotels. They are inpersonal and huge. This boutique hotel is situated in one of the suburbs from Jo'burg at 11 km from the airport. These people understand how to make people feel welcome. You feel like you are a guest in a big house with a very nice garden. The food is excellent and well presented... More

We were very impressed with our stay at the African Rock Hotel. The staff there could not have been friendlier or more helpful. They were prepared for everything and were more than happy to do anything they could to make our stay there comfortable. The food was absolutely outstanding. We had all 3 meals there and all were superb. The... More

Stayed here one night on our way to Zimbabwe. The thought that went into this hotel is evident. It is lovely and the art work is wonderful. The room was delightful and the food excellent. Their Chef is a master and the dinner she prepared for us was excellent. Breakfast and lunch, prepared by the assistant Chef were also wonderful.... More
