initially came here as a base to look for appartments because we were relocating to johannesburg. the staff was unfriendly, had to repeatedly ask for receipts when we paid. they never had any change in the till so we overpaid every single time unless we had exact money. after a couple of days we found out the staff was stealing... I took my daughter and a few friend to Wanderers and did not want to drive back late at night. We decided to sleep at backpackers. The staff was friendly and helpful from the word go and made us feel at home. The girls enjoyed the bunk beds as they stayed up till late chatting. Rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and all... More

Plus side easy access to Park bus station and Tembo airport. Mall close. Safe area. Nice staff. Down side lots of thefts from rooms. Lack of security. Inadequate bathrooms. Not enough cooking utensils. Pay for wifi. Stoves barely work Bad tendencies to keep moving guests from room to room. Upper bunkies noisey and unsafe. Lots of cockaroaches.

On my current trip I have backpacked from South Africa, Zambia, Tanazia, Uganda, Dubai (for 2 days), Sri Lanka and now India. In the last few years I've driven from the west to east coast of the States, interailed around mainland Europe and done the southwest of Austrialia and I've never ever come across somewhere so disgusting and horrible to... Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. One of the worst nights of my life. I would never want anyone else to experience it. They weren't expecting us and didn't have the room we paid for. The staff sulked instead of apologising and were rude and unhelpful the entire time we were there. Instead of the room we booked they put us in a... More

We stayed here for two nights in December and would not recommend this place to anyone. The staff have such a bad attitude and lack any concept of "customer service". On a number of occasions we went to reception to ask something (eg. Where can we print boarding passes, how to get to the airport, where to get laundry done... More

Quick train ride from airport. Decent value. Good security and clean. Pool nice and peaceful neighborhood. Located not far from mall and restaurants. Take precautions if going out at night. Daytime all good. Frig had lots of old food. Showers can be lengthy wait if full

Staff is incompetent - I arrived on the 31/5/14 only to find a girl who claimed to be working on weekends only and didn't know how to check me is as I booked via SafariNow. She also kept complaining about being tired & cant wait to go home. I requested a room where I wont share a shower she said... More

Everytime someone showered, there was a flood in the bathroom. the place was very dirty. they made up our beds the day We were leaving and they didn't clean... More

I stayed at Rosebank Backpacker because of the area they are in, even though I read some bad reviews , but I had a great time and never had a bad experience like some other guests , I never met the owner but the New Manager was very nice and helpful and organised some interesting trips for us. It is... More
