We stayed at the Avon Road Guest House for one night in August and we can absolutely recommend this B & B. The room and bathroom were spacious and very clean. Moreover, we enjoyed Christine`s hospitality, our wonderful dinner with her as well as her delicious breakfast. Thanks so much!

The proprietor of the Avon Road Guest House has air fresheners in every possible nook and cranny of the facility. Some spray a mist every few minutes into the room, some scented mist bubbles up from what looks like a boiling bowl. In addition, the bedding is bathed in excess fabric softener/fabric freshener. I literally could not breath in the... More

Let me start with the tips, which can help you decide if this is the place for you: - the hosts have two very cute little dogs, that run around, play and use all the couches. - one of the hosts smokes cigarettes, including in the common guest living room. - the guest rooms are on the small sides, with... Elegantly decorated rooms using strong African theme, opening onto attractive pool area, garden and “club house.” Space was a little tight since large king-sized bed filled the room, and shelves housed decorative items which detracted from their usefulness. Good breakfast. Unfortunately, owners were not present the night we stayed and we had some problems communicating with the maid regarding restaurants... More

Clive picked us up from the airport on time. We only had 1 night before returning to the airport the next morning. We had booked and paid for an evening meal and even discussed food likes/dislikes before going. Christine told us she was too tired to cook dinner so we had to all go out to a restaurant!! So after... More

We stayed here on two separate nights during our stay in South Africa. The B&B is conveniently close to the airport, in a quiet residential neighborhood. The rooms all face out onto the garden pool area and there is a separate small building "the pub" in the garden for drinks and casual dinners. The rooms are very clean and comfortable,... More

Me & a girlfriend booked a room after dropping off a family member late at the airport. I booked the same day through Booking.com & literally within 10 minutes of confirming ny booking the owner phoned me to ask if I required a double or twin room. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Clive who was so... More

After we read the reviews of Avon Road, we decided to stay for our stop over to Windhoek. The convince of being close to the Johannesburg airport and the transfer proved were a natural choice. Christine and Clive earned their four stars for service, cleanliness and modern decorations of the room. They provided us with an excellent fish dinner and... More

We had an overnight layover in Johannesburg, so we decided to stay at Avon Road Guest House based on the excellent reviews we read on Trip Advisor. Christine and Clive deserve every accolade they've received! We were so pleased with the lovely room; tastefully decorated, with plush, comfy bedding, and a bathroom that is very modern, with plenty of space.... More
