Although they are undergoing refurbishing of their units this is a very nice spot to stay. Make sure you ask for the Sentinel units which overlooks the mountain and gives you an awesome view! The king sized bed was firm and the interior beautiful. Dinner and breakfast are available and lots of routes to walk. Perfect spot for the nature... More

We spent two nights here hiking in Drakensberg. Great base for hike up Amphitheatre (shuttle available to base of sentinel) and Tugela source. Had great hikes from Cavern, Amphitheatre, and gentle down to Royal National Park Mahai campsite. Staff friendly and helpful. However quality of resort itself a bit below par, needs upgrading. Nevertheless is comfortable and clean, meals ok... More

Thanks very much for the review. You are so right that the location is fabulous. In terms of the upgrade needed to the facilities - that's just what's busy happening. It's really good to know that the work happening in the background isn't disturbing the guests! We hope you and the family return to enjoy the beauty of the Berg. More

The renovation of the Rondavels is still in progress, the Chalets are (more or less) finished. Well done. The old bath tubes are changed to showers and the rooms are bright and friendly. No fridge in the rooms (if you come or go to/from other parks). The heating of warm water is eco-friendly done by heat-pumps instead of gas burners.... More

Thank you fr your review, and the details of your visit. We do hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday and that one day you will return to visit us... More

We have finally been back to stay at Witsieshoek for the first time in 10 years. Of course we have been there many times in between for refreshments after we climbed the Sentinel. It is great to see that they are renovating and revamping this lovely hotel, which was in dire need of it. This weekend we stayed in Drakensberg,... More

It is very good to see that money is being spent on the accomadation - very nice rooms with modern bathrooms and comfy beds. For a publicly run and funded resort, they are making a big effort. The brilliant views over the Drakensburg are reason enough to come and with access to some of the best walks in the Northern... More

This was my second visit to Witsieshoek, the first 8 years ago. i liked it then but loved it now. On both our visits we chose to stay here because we wanted to hike up to Sentinal using the chain ladders to the Tugela Falls. The road to the resort passes through the town of Qwa-Qwa and other small villages... More

We spent one night at this resort to facilitate an early start for a hike up the "chain ladder' to the top of the "Amphitheatre". The resort is located a half hour drive from the R57 junction on the R712. The road is tar or paved and in good condition. It passes through the town of Phuthditjhaba (Qwa Qwa) and... More

My first time visiting this mountain resort. We arrived late at night with no idea what the views would be like. We awoke to stunning views of the sentinel. The proximity to the sentinel car park means you can easy summit the mountain. The rooms kept us suprisingly warm in the cold weather and the staff are some of the... More
