This was our first safari and we were not disappointed. We stayed in the Jackal Buzzard lodge and were pleased with the accommodation. The staff could not have been more attentive and as we were the only guests on our first night and it was my husband's birthday, we had a private dinner which was beautifully prepared. The birthday cake... More

We stayed at the Lodge for 3 nights and joined all the tours with the ranger. We saw a lot of animals despite the lousy weather. Our suite was perfect, and the facilities were great including the food. Staff was attentive and helpful.

This was our first safari experience and hence we did of research and went to the best possible one in the easter cape. When we reached there, we were told a lot of things , none of which were true. The lodges in Bukela were very nice and to great standards, but there was water problem (as some elephants had... More

We did the day safari at Amakhala for 980 Rand per person and it was definitly worth it. We were the only ones on the trip so we had a private safari tour. We saw lots of animals. Our ranger new exactly where to look for them. The Day Safari includes a excellent Lunch with a great view from the... More

Set in the midst of an 18,000 acre game park, Bukela is a small, high quality, all-in establishment. With only four thatched lodges, it provides a personalized service backed by excellent accommodation. There are both early morning and late afternoon game drives (if you get Ashir, you're very lucky as he is one of the best Rangers I have come... More

Does NOT have "Big 5" animals - website is wrong. Not leopards, no cheetah only 2 lions and they cant be found.... "Once in a life time trip" somewhat ruined by mis-information and false advertising by the reserve. They are allegedly - "rebuilding" but dont tell you this when you are booking - only when its too late to change... More

Had a fantastic 4 night safari at Bukela lodge, Amakhala Safari Park in March 2013, which was amazing. The chalet was luxurious, but still had that " safari" feel and the food was exemplary. As the lodge accommodates only eight people, the whole experience was more personal and special. Our guide Asher was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about the park... More

If there is such a thing, Amakhala would be the 'Aloe Vera gem of the Eastern Cape'! Absolutely first class service from all staff - chefs, guides and managers alike.
