We only had 1 night here and wished we could have stayed longer. Such a beautiful place and restaurant was superb for both dinner and breakfast. Just loved everything about it - the building, the room, the HUGE bathroom, the beautiful decor and the food. Absolutely no complaints

We stayed at this hotel in January having just flown in and before we went onto Safari. Our room was nicely decorated with a large bathroom and the staff were very friendly and helpful The hotel was in a very peaceful location, although this did mean that there wasn’t much nearby, we ate in the hotel that night and the... An amazing experience! We stayed only one night at the end of the Garden Route, before continuing on safari. The Edwardian splendour of our room (and bathroom!) was something we have never experienced even in the UK. Our evening meal was excellent - and Paul's attention to detail was impeccable. We would certainly recommend the hotel and the restaurant. Have... More

Hacklewood Hill is a former grand and large Edwardian manor house set in gardens in a quiet residential road. It retains almost all of the period charm whilst having modern facilites. We only stayed one night for B&B as we had a dinner invitation elsewhere. I can only add that it is not suitable for people who prefer the clean... More

Staying at Hacklewood is the best stay my wife and I have experienced at any boutique hotel, B&B, guest lodge or anywhere! You are cushioned luxury in all the reception rooms as well as your suite. The staff are all wonderfully attentive and you feel like royalty! We will always go back there when we visit PE. Barry and Peta-Ann

Hacklewood has always been the go to place for a nice intimate fine dining experience, the service is typically top notch and the food absolutely fabulous. Unfortunately on my last visit this was not the case, there was a dead flower on the table masquerading as decor that should have given me a clue on the evening to follow. My... More

We stayed at this hotel for two non-consecutive nights. It is about three miles from the airport and after the first night I thought it was probably the best ever airport hotel. The room was amazing - four poster bed, comfortable lounge area, balcony overlooking the garden, bathroom with pillared bath with candelabra as well as a large shower. The... More

We stayed at Hacklewood Hill Country House as an overnight stop before leaving for Port Elizabeth Hotel. What a beautiful house! We were the only guests, but as stated by other reviewers, nothing was too much trouble. We dined in the hotel in the evening and felt slightly embarrassed that the restaurant was open just for us, but that was... More

we stayed for one night but the hotel was great - lovely old building, all rooms loving furnished in the period of the hotel. Gardens are also very nice, we ate dinner at the restaurant and the food was excellent and the service from the staff was brilliant nothing was too much trouble for them to help us with. Wish... We had our wedding for 20 people at Hacklewood, and right from the planning stages we were impressed. The service was great, the food amazing and the hotel itself is breathtaking. We had the whole place to ourselves, with family members sleeping over the night after the wedding, and everyone loved it. The beautiful, spacious rooms and bathrooms made the... More
