Fantastic location with very friendly staff. The hotel has a kitsch charm. They even sent me back my jacket which I left behind. Massive thanks! The pool area is nice and the beach a short walk away. We experienced a blackout while we were there, apparently they are common in SA, no sweat though they cooked our dinner on the... More

The smell of food on entering this hotel was off putting. Other reviews have mentioned the quirky rooms which were fine by us as they were different and we slept OK in our 'high' beds. What let the Grand Café down was the restaurant. We booked in for dinner that first night and once was enough. Our server it turned... More

We loved our stay here, when we were on the Garden Route last month. It wasn't the cheapest on offer, but the room was full of character and very quirky. Great if you like something a little different. Everything we needed was provided, and more. The bathroom was huge with twin basins and a twin shower, as well as a... More

We arrived on a horrible wet day in Plett, having just come from an ultra-modern villa in Cape Town so our initial impressions that the hotel and rooms were very dark were probably influenced by this. In saying that we quickly settled in and thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights at the Grand Café and Rooms. The staff and food are... More

this hotel is what I would call quirky and different. We are quite traditional people when it comes to hotels and this one is not. The room was not what we expected, a bath in the bedroom, a bed which was so high you needed to stand on a step to get onto it, we are quite short and struggled... More

This hotel would not be everyone's cup of tea and I liked it more than my husband. The rooms are quite dark and the open room shower and stools to get in to bed add a historical feel to the place. You are even provided with an old fashioned white cotton long nightdress! We were in room 7 which had... More

Having found ourselves in Plettenberg Bay late afternoon on a Sunday most places were closed. We tried the one or two that were open only to very rudely be told they were full. When we arrived at The grand Café the welcome could not have been warmer. They too were full so seated us on the terrace where we started... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2015

Stayed here for three days in January 2015. This hotel is situated right on a roundabout at one end of the main street. There is no hotel parking but there is plenty of on street parking nearby, hotel gives you a slip to put in widescreen to stop you getting tickets. On arrival was met by helpful and friendly staff.... More

I am a South Aftican and I booked 3 rooms as I was bringing overseas guests up the Garden Route. The rooms are quirky and cater for your every need. The location is fabulous. You can walk to the beautiful Lookout Beach, shops and restaurants. The service is terrible nobody tries to help you, if you ask for a drink... More
