Arriving at kurland is a bit like stepping back to colonial times. It's the long driveway, the verandas and beautiful rose gardens and the smattering of English old duffers in their yellow shorts and pink knee length socks that sets the scene. You couldn't want for a more beautiful setting in this large estate and the suites are just huge.... More

The Kurland Hotel must be the most beautiful hotel definitely in South Africa and possibly in the world. It is set in a magnificent polo estate and each bedroom is impeccably furnished and laid-out, with huge, beautiful beds, rooms and bathrooms. Luxury and beauty combined with incredible views from every room across lush green paddocks to the mountains in the... More

Stunning environment, luxury, with a taste of living in the past.Amazing historical residence and horse paddocks, deep dived into a fasinating countyside.Huge and elegant rooms, big bedroom with sofas and fireplace, enormours bathroom and a nice veranda, facing the horses pintch.Breakfast and dinner are very good, waiters incredibly kind and at disposal;the management is nice,a bit cold than other accomodation we stayed in,but however nice.

I want to start by stating that this is my very first review on Trip Advisor. However, I am no stranger to the site as i own a small hotel in Kenya, and so am aware of the benefits of the review process and so would like to give back to Kurland as a thank you to them for an... More

We visited in early November which is clearly pre-season at Kurland. There were very few people staying which meant a delightful room upgrade and special romantic dinners in front of the fire in the library. The downside was that the kitchen was running on a skeleton basis so the choice of food was very limited and the quality was unacceptably... More

We spent 6 nights in 2 connecting suites with our 4 month old baby and her 2 year old brother and can not rave enough about the personal service and the ability of the staff to make you feel and the kids at home. Sure it it not a glitzy place but in a Four Seasons you do not get... More

A very lovely place indeed and full of charms. If you are looking for top quality place to relax that is perfectly complemented with nature, then look no further. Great staff and management. The hotel is also very central to most of the attractions in Plettenberg Bay and you can be rest assured of the management's generosity and pampering. I... More

Our advice to families visiting Kurland would be to manage your expectations downwards: this is not a 5-star hotel any more. However, If you visit the property expecting (and hopefully having paid for!) a slightly more modest experience then you should have a great time. The property commands a stunning location and we loved the quad bikes that were available... More

We were very happily surprised to find we had been doubly upgraded to a luxury suite here, complete with our own plunge pool. The hotel has beautiful grounds, with flowerbeds full of flourishing white and pink roses, and it was a delightful touch to find two vases of fresh roses in our spacious suite. The main house is quite old... More

This place is truly stunning, the grounds, service, rooms and facilities are first class. The staff can't do enough for you and we loved every minute of our stay there. A nice little touch was returning to your room in the evening to be greeted by a roaring log fire. I also read the comment about the owners being aloof... More

Ambassador to the finer things in life, Kurland is the ideal family and honeymoon retreat along The Garden Route. Situated in the foothills of the Western Cape Mountains on on a vast and beautiful private estate, complete with its own polo club, Kurland hotel is the stuff of holiday fantasies. This luxury boutique hotel, within reach of secluded beaches and a great variety of activities, has buckets of character, a never-be-bored menu of things to do, fine cuisine and staff who know the true meaning of the word ‘hospitality’.Over 50yrs ago Baron Peter Behr discovered a coastal paradise of exquisite beauty near Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route in South Africa and purchased the estate which he named Kurland after the Baltic province where he was born. Today, Kurland is a peaceful and luxurious sanctuary which offers highly personalised service, fine cuisine and excellent facilities.
