Their were nice views from the hotel, but the room was small. Sitting outside at breakfast overlooking the pool and sea as the sun was rising was very pleasant. The manageress was very good and gave us a lot of advice on what to do in the area. The Look Out Bar, a few minutes walk from the hotel, served... More

My husband and I recently explored the Garden Route in South Africa and on route, spent a total of four nights at The Plettenberg. This hotel is ranked as a Relais & Chateau property, so of course, we were expecting very high standards. We stayed in a "Luxury Double Room with a Seaview" - the view was probaby unparalleled on... A group of friends that meet every Friday at a different venue had lunch at the restaurant yesterday. We had excellent service and super food. However, the ladies who had the salads commented that the salads were tasty but a bit short on ingredients and not great value for money. The others had no complaints regarding the taste, presentation and... More

We had three wonderful relaxing days at this hotel. Staff are exceptional, friendly, helpful and so efficient. It's in a great location view-wise and close to town (a bit of a hill but ok for anyone of average fitness). You can walk down to all the beaches and the lagoon from the hotel. (We recommend the Lookoutcafe which is about... More

Although we went here last year I am sure things haven't changed. It is a beautiful hotel with beautiful views and infinity pool. We wish we could have stayed longer. The position of the hotel is by a lovely beach and an area where there are many things to do. Overall we felt it was 5 star all around. We... More

You can't beat the ocean side setting for this charming hotel. You will be pleased when you see it. We enjoyed two excellent breakfasts and one so-so dinner with so-so cocktails. However, service was good and everyone was very pleasant and accommodating. Stayed here 20 years ago and definitely wanted to return. Glad we did.

We stopped off for lunch purely on an impulse. It must have been our lucky day. It as an absolutely charming Relais & Chateux hotel with delightful restaurant enjoying fabulous views of Plettenberg Bay. Our lunch for two was delightful, chosen from an extensive luncheon menu, and with a superb level of service throughout. Total cost came to a miserly... More

The location is fantastic. We had a suite which overlooked the ocean and the beach, and it was beautiful with the balcony doors open looking at the spectacular view. The Plettenberg is a charming hotel. Enjoyed our stay so I do feel a little bad whingeing. However the hotel was quite quiet when we stayed which meant it lacked a little atmosphere and we seemed to be the only ones allocated a room in the annexe on our first night. I think the room we were given was probably... More
