Albergo is right in the middle of gorgeous Plett, right next to shops and bars on the main road and a Checkers. The backpackers has a lovely garden, great self-catering kitchen, and acceptable bathrooms and dorms. I found the staff to be very friendly and approachable, and I appreciated the racial diversity represented (a rarity on the Garden Route). I... More

As backpackers go, this one is lovely - well situated, great staff, good accommodation and facilities, and a wonderful garden. However, as an older person traveling with kids, our stay was wrecked by a large group of young and clearly drunk 'guests' who decided to 'party' well after midnight, which included raiding the communal kitchen for whatever food they could... Good facilities, very clean, nice indoor and outdoor areas, helpful staff. Close to town, beaches not too far away. However, this is not a place to pitch a tent in high season. Very squeezed in space. Very noisy at night during high season with a lot of out of control drunk young people. Book well in advance during this period... More

Stayed just 1 night. Took a dorm room for just R120. Bunk was very comfortable though I would recommend the upper bunk as there is limited space between the low and upper bunks, but the upper bunk is not too high up and there is plenty of space between it and the ceiling. The rooms are comfortably decorated with no... More

The staff at albergo were amazing, always willing to help with information, booking trips and hostels. Private rooms were spacious and clean. Our Bathroom did smell funky and the hot water tended to keep switching from cold to hot during showers, but overall we enjoyed our stay.

This place is nicely set up, it has a nice garden, social area, kitchen, braai area, tables to socialize... it lacks nice bathrooms (this was one of very few places in SA where there was no soap or even a soap container in the bathroom, the question was how the staff cleans their hands? well, they don't, as I witnessed,... Stayed at Albergo a few times. I always feel at home here. They have a bonfire going every night of the year so you can have a braai and hang out with other guests if you like or just relax in a hommock in the garden. Very central if you wanna go out for dinner or shopping. The hosts run... More

A lovely hostel run by a Dutch couple who have clearly got the right attitude and vision to running a successful backpackers hostel. It was quiet when we were there - maybe because it was low-season - despite this, the staff made a point of lighting the bonfire and braii for just a few guests. The reception tried to help... More

We were forced into a last minute change in our plans after Santini Lace Apartments cancelled our booking as we were leaving UK as they had double booked and the accommodation they arranged as a replacement, Twilight Cottage, (all in Plettenbergbaii), were not answering the gate or mobile when we arrived as planned. We went to Albergo as our daughter,... More
