We had noticed this estate the previous day and when the weather took a turn for the worse we called in to sample the wine. We arrived too late for lunch but 'Kim' gave us a friendly welcome and gave us detailed information on the three wines being sampled. All three wines were superb and both my wife and I... More

Thank you Dave & Lorna for taking the time to leave a review. It was a pleasure meeting you both and am really pleased you loved the wine and what we are trying to achieve at Packwood. More

We met friends who live in the area for lunch and although the view was lovely,we had to sit in the shade and it was terribly cold. We were offered blankets which helped but perhaps it would be advisable to place some seating in the sun. We ordered the cheese lunch which is the only meal on offer for R150.... More

We would like to stress to people reading this review, a few facts that have failed to be included by shashy2014. It was very frustrating that not one of the visitors from this party felt they could approach a member of staff at the time of the visit to discuss their unhappiness. Had they done so we would have ensured... More

I am now a cheese fan, love the rosemary & chilli cheese, fresh garden greens and warm breads. The view at Packwood was amazing & we would have happily paid to sit and enjoy the views all day, well worth the R150 for lunch. Thanks to Ilsa and Kim for making us feel welcome over the Easter holidays. If you... More

Lovely setting with incredible views but R150 per head (and we were 4 people, so a total of R600) for a board of cheese, bread and a salad is way overpriced. Much better value to be found in and around Plett. Wont be back.

I stayed at Bottlebrush Cottage between 7th - 20th February. Firstly I was made to feel very welcome by Peter, Vicky and the staff. The whole estate is stunning, with beautiful views looking out over the ocean in the distance. If you are up early do not miss out on the amazing sunrise. The cottage is perfect for a couple;... We only went to Packwood for lunch so cannot comment on staying there - though I would imagine it is very good if you like self-catering. It is situated 6km off the main road on a good quality dirt road. Important to take your mobile/cell phone as you have to phone from the gate to have it opened. The lunch... More

As locals we were very pleased to come across Packwood. Four of us went for a wine tasting and lunch. There is no menu as it is set, which was fine. The problem is that there are no prices-- anywhere -and we didn't ask as we go out to eat very often and are never surprised when the bill arrives.... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your recent visit to Packwood. The owners have dedicated a huge amount of hard work to sustainably farm the estate, in order to produce something a little bit different for the table. All the produce provided is homegrown including 2 of the cheeses made with milk from our cows.... More

If ever there was a proverbial "home away from home", Packwood Country Estate richly deserves this title. My family and I (6 of us in total, including 4 teenage children) spent a wonderful holiday at Packwood House from late December 2013 to just after New Year. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, with Ilse's lovely... More

We stayed at Packwood Country Estate in early January 2014. We were welcomed by wonderful hospitality, including an authentic home cooked scrumptious meal on the house. The accomodation was great. A fully self contained 2 bedroom house with full DStv package (bonus!). The house is about 5km off the main road on a good quality sand road. This is rural... More

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely stay at the Bottlebrush cottage at Packwood over December. We enjoyed being out in the countryside and away from the chaos of Plet and Knysna over season (the area is super for mountain bikers, walkers and trail runners as it borders the indigenous forest). Bottle brush cottage is perfect for 2 with a... More
