My first ever safari and everything was awesome, from the exceptional arrival with hot towels and old-fashioned lemonade, to the quality of the rooms and amenities. Fantastic ranger, Ben with his superb tracker, Ernie. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I also had my own plunge pool to skinny dip and see the sun-up, overlooking the range. Get... More

Kwandwe Reserve in the Eastern Cape is about 2 hours drive from Port Elizabeth, not far from Grahamstown. We stayed at the Great Fish River Lodge set high above the river gorge. The beautifully designed main lodge includes the dining room, lounge and library all with stunning views across the reserve. The individual guest villas are very large and beautifully... More

This place is simply gorgeous. Fantastic lodges with a luxurious equipment, delicious food and a cream sherry at the terrasse makes you feel like the King or Queen of Africa. But what impressed me much more where the incredible game drives, the rich and fruitful nature, the endless number of different animals, the sound of the birds and the blinking... More

All preceding reviews are absolutely true in their praise and positive comments. We stayed with our eleven-year-old at Ecca Lodge on our first safari experience and it was more than we could ever have expected. Furnishings at Ecca would benefit from some updating, as has been carried out at the other lodges which feel more luxe as a result. However,... More

Four of us (adults) stayed at Uplands for my daughter's 40th birthday. What a fantastic experience. We were spoiled by Zoy the butler and Julia the cook, given a fantastic game experience by Toast the Ranger and Dennis the Spotter and made so welcome by all the staff and everyone we met. Uplands is something really special. All the rooms... More

Outstanding Relais & Chateaux accommodation and catering and surrounded by the most magnificent scenery, our few days at Kwandwe Ecca Lodge were unbelievably wonderful. All the staff were enormously obliging and friendly, but a special mention must go to our very charismatic, knowledgeable and amusing tracker Alistair Lamont, who made the whole experience even more memorable. Because of the exclusivity... More

We stayed at Kwandwe Ecca Lodge. What an amazing experience. From the minute we arrived at the lodge, we felt completely welcome: the manager had my kids (two girls, aged 6 and 3) wrapped around her finger within minutes. The staff are warm, friendly and impeccably trained to assist with anything we could possibly need during our stay. Our Ranger... More

In the Eastern Cape, about 30 Kms outside of Grahamstown on the Fort Beaufort road, you will find a small sign pointing down a dirt road that signals the start of a wonderful experience. The sign simply says "Kwandwe". Six dusty Kms later you enter the main gate and into one of the most beautiful Big 5 reserves in this... More

Our Kwandwe experience will be something we treasure for a lifetime. The staff is incredible and goes above an beyond to make sure your every need is adressed. We were lucky enough to see all of the big five during our visit. Our ranger Doc was very knowledgable and also provided entertainment throughout the day. The accomidations are also second... More

We stayed 8 nights at 'Uplands'. 6 friends together at this lodge was just perfect. The experience far exceeded my expectations. I entered the game park thing with a hint of scepticism but that went out the door completely in a day or 2. Food was exceptional (and excessive - but that was my fault, no one else's!). Loved having... More
