A little off the beaten track, this resort on a rive has an atmosphere second to non. It lies within its own private game park so, beside the other activities, you can take a drive and spot some game. Other activities include boating, swimming, ball sports, trampolining, etc.

We had a caravan site on the river for 17 days and it was awesome. The grounds are well kept and the ablution facilities are very neat and clean. It is the perfect family holiday and we have already booked again. The staff are friendly and the guides are awesome and are brilliant with children, they had a fun and... More

Me and 6 family members visited Areena for a fun day out and a zipline tour. We drove to Areena the previous day to book in advance and to pay the deposit. When we got there the following day nobody knew of our booking (not even the woman who booked us) and they questioned if we even paid at all.... More

We are sorry that your experience was not enjoyable. We do try our best to ensure that everyone has a great Areena experience. During the peak season, it is very difficult for us to recognise or remember everyone and their transactions, we are dealing with hundreds of people on a daily basis with a wide variety of transactions, bookings and... Upon arrival staff was unfriendly and had a really bad attitude, not being helpful at all. The entire resort is not maintained well enough. It made us think of a kibbutz with a nice view. We stayed in a timber chalet and it was well maintained, but that's it. Everything had add on's we had to pay for which was... More

This is quite a massive complex and would be quite busy in the summer months. Fortunately we visited in low season and it had an almost deserted feel to it, with some of the lawns/gardens looking neglected. The location is nice, right along the river, however we were looking for some hiking opportunities of which there really weren’t any. We... More

I stayed for just one night here as part of a group of 8 from the UK visiting the Eastern Cape on our way up from East London to Mthatha. We stayed in a gorgeous little chalet which had one of the most comfy beds in which I have ever slept! The highlight of our stay was a late afternoon... More

Areena Riverside Resort is great for long weekends and short breaks. We went as a couple, but the place is ideal for families, with lots of activities for children. The rooms were immaculate and modern, even though the resort looks a bit old on the outside. The bar area and the restaurant was beautiful. We loved seeing the giraffes and... More

We stayed there for 1 night. It was beautiful. We had a suit. It was a strange smell. But the room was nice. The animals was beautiful. And we meet Abby :) I hope I will come back in the summer time. I would recommend this place. Peaceful and beautiful / linda from Sweden

We were visiting family in East London and they booked us in here. Whilst the staff were friendly after a long journey along the garden route arriving at 6pm we were disturbed to find the restaurant was not open and had to go out and get provisions as there was no shop open either for us to make an evening... Thank you for your review, it is with your help that we have the opportunity to improve, implement more checks and balances and grow from strength to strength. Our restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesday, so if you happened to arrive on either of those days, that would have been the reason it was closed. We do not have... More
