Really fun. Everything is period correct (not withstanding the DVD player), but movie choices were right. Record player, reading material, radio (only plays one fifties station, commercials and all) complete the experience. Very quiet park. The units are a little shopworn but 60 years will do that. It seems that some don't know how a few of the old mechanisms... More

we recently stayed in the 16 ft El Rey trailer in Bisbee. It was a blast! the radio played news and music from the late 40's to 50's. Down side was the ratty blanket (from 1957 I am sure), cups/glasses weren't really clean and the cool coffee pot fit the era and could have stood a good cleaning. Towels wer... More

First, I will say that this will not be for everybody but if you want peace and quiet, you'll get it here. We stayed for two nights in the 1947 "Tiki" bus. We had two beds, two tiki chairs and a bench seat in the bus so plenty of seating available. More importantly it had a turntable and a fair... More

Spent a night in a vintage Airstream camper...enjoyed a comfortable bed in a great atmosphere! Easy to find, great clean rest rooms, and a quiet night...just what I wanted. Couldn't use the stove, but with the age of the camper, it made sense. Fun alternative to a hotel.

We celebrated our 20th anniversary and observed Memorial Day with a quiet stay at teh Shady Dell. First we stayed in the 1957 Boles Aero complete with full bath and wonderfully preserved in it's original 50's decor. We danced to old records and watched 50's movies on the black and white TV. Then we "cruised" aboard the 1947 Chris Craft... More

During a roadtrip in Arizona, was fortunate enough to stay at the Shady Dell, before they became so well known. Stayed in the VW bus turned tiki bar turned hotel room. Well kept, great little ammenities and ambiance. Bed was decent, if you are looking for luxury this isn't it, but it was ok. Great atmosphere. Bummer that the coffee... More

We forget how our leisure expectations have changed from the 1950's. A trip to Shady Dell will confirm this. As a kid in the 50's it was a more spartan vacation experience. Today we expect luxury. You won't find luxury at Shady Dell but you will have an authentic 50's experience. Four couples each chose a trailer to express their... More

It is what it is. Staying in a 65 year old trailer that hasn't changed much in 65 years except for the wear and tear. One and done with this place. It just isn't what it's cracked up to be on the Travel Channel and Country Living. It is quiet, that's a plus. It's the kind of place you stay... More

Definately something different. The 1950 memoralbilia was awesome. The lot has an abandoned spooky appearance. We went on Friday the thirteenth so it added to the Theme. This would be a great October get-away. Recomend the ghost Tour if you stay here. The ghost tour is more fun than scary. The combination was a spooky fun weekend. The fact that... More

After reading all of the reviews regarding the owners not being around at check-in late in the evening, I made a special effort to arrive at the 3:00 p.m. check-in time only to be disappointed with the office "closed" but reading a note left for me taped to the front door. I followed the instructions and walked directly to my... More
