Wonderful people work here and the accomodations are not luxurious but are clean and comfy. We were there for 6 days and had a wonderful time. I was impressed with the friendly staff at the hotel, grocery store and restaurant. My family had a memorable stay I would recommend this hotel.

Overview: My wife and I were looking for a cheap place to stay in Whittier; therefore, we chose the Anchor Inn. Pros: The room was clean. We didn't have any problems with noise. The staff was friendly. $94 isn't too bad for a hotel room in Alaska. Cons: $94 is too much for an "over glorified dorm room" that was... More

Wow it was a step back into the 60's with its dorm bunker styled rooms with a great view of the train yard and the smell of heating oil that lingered throughout. Luckily our 3.5 year old loves trains so he loved seeing the trains shunting troublesome trucks around. The place was clean with a standard private bathroom, towels, bar... More

The Anchor Inn looks pretty unassuming, and there's nothing fancy about it. Some reviews I read before checking in compared the place to a truck stop, but almost all mentioned how clean and decent the hotel was. I'm happy to say they were right: there's nothing impressive about the hotel, but at the same time nothing to complain about it... More

I was a little bothered to pay $100 for the room judging by the view from outside but there aren't many options in town and it was very clean inside. As clean as any room in many of the nicer hotels I've been in. And plenty roomy! The harbor view was great and the staff were very helpful and kind.... More

The building is very old, the carpets in the hall and stairs are worn and dirty, but the rooms are new and renovated and clean. The rooms are large and have very comfortable beds. It was quite warm the day we were there, but they provided a good fan which cooled the room down. We actually slept better here than... More

For 174 a night I at least expected more....our door wouldn't lock. No screen on our window, no AC, the window opened in over the bed so it hit you in the head all night. The toilet and bathtub overflowed in the middle of the night onto the floor, the tv was changed to a porn station so my kids... More

Three of us needed to stay one night in Whittier before catching a cruise ship because my brother wanted to go fishing for halibut. I tried all the online web travel sites and even called a few to see what was available. According to them all the hotels in Whittier were booked solid. I called the Anchor Inn and got... More

This is definitely NOT what this hotel looks like! I just went to Whittier for the first time and was so relieved I didn't book a room here. The building needs some serious TLC and it it connected to a small grocery store that is pretty sketchy. You would do yourself a huge favor staying at June's Whittier B&B condos.

I don't know how this picture got posted that is definitely not the anchor inn in Whittier Alaska. The property is old and it shows but choices are limited in Whittier. They do have a grocery store that has a lot of items and pretty decent food in their restaurant.
