Rooms are neat, clean, fairly newer looking, well maintained. Front desk and folks working it are what you would expect from a decent Best Western. Professional in their approach, very kind and polite. I had booked another hotel in Valdez and after one night, wanted out immediately. I saw the BW down the street and walked in asking if a... This hotel is the only chain-hotel in Valdez and is probably the best option in the small town. However, they could do some work to update the facilities. We were in Valdez during a heat wave and the lack of air conditioning made for some uncomfortable nights. We were given an 'accessible' room, although we hadn't requested it when making... More

Friendly staff, great location right next to where all the day cruises leave so you can just walk there. They have a free breakfast but I preferred to eat elsewhere. The use of a laundry was a great bonus and a very reasonable price. The room was clean large and the bed very comfortable good place to stay only negative was the room did... We wanted to take the Alaska Maritime Highway from Valdez to Whittier and because of the ferry schedule we needed to spend one night in Valdez and we stayed here. It has two floors and no elevator or air-conditioning. The hot water is nice and hot. The bed was not particularly comfortable.

We felt fortunate to get a room for Saturday night as there was a conference in town and the Best Western is the best short stay option, without booking far in advance. Anyway, we had a very nice room and the view of the harbor and mountains was excellent. It was our first visit to Valdez and loved the scenery.... More

We loved Valdez but I'm finding it difficult to believe this is the top hotel in the area. The worst thing for us was the noise of the people walking in the room above. The floor boards are creaky and we could hear every footstep.

This motel is straight out of the 70's and hasn't seen much love since then. Your first impression when walking in is the poor taxidermy with the two bears in the lobby. There are big seams stitched together on both of them, right down the entire front. You get a low budget feel right from the start. When we checked... More

Price was very reasonable, Breakfast was fantastic, bed was really comfortable. We even got an educators discount; other places in Alaska had never heard of this. We could see the Valdez harbor and surrounding mountains complete with waterfalls from our room.

Check in went smoothly with a lovely girl on reception. BUT that is where the accolades finish. Was not prepared for NO LIFTS beware this is a walkup of some 15steps. & with two very large suitcases plus sundry other bits & pieces & a broken wrist to boot not the best of situations. Offer of help was half hearted.... More

We were arriving late from Wrangell St. Elias and leaving early the next day on the ferry and needed a place to be. This worked well for us. The room had a front entry that allowed us to store our bags without them being in the way. Plenty of food in the morning with a fair amount of variety. Enough... More
