We stayed in Newport for a week over the summer and always found ourselves ultimately heading in the direction of the Golden Lion. Food is very good with a pretty standard 'pub grub' menu. There was a good selection of local ales and standard draft options all served by polite staff. The pub also has a good outdoor section/garden. One... More

Booked this in January for 5 nights & had been looking forward to it all year. We took our two dogs. Before booking I checked that we could eat on the bar with our dogs. On arrival I was surprised about the complete hustle & bustle people including waiting staff rushing around. I thought it being a country inn it... More

This was our second visit to The Golden Lion but our first in the high season and once again it lived up to expectations. We had room 1 which is a good size but all think all the rooms are very similar. If you do intend to eat there (and you should), make sure you book in advance as it... More

Located in the picturesque town of Newport in Pembrokeshire, this bed and breakfast was our first stay in the area and chosen as a result of recommendations from friends and also because they have a dog friendly room (which was needed as we took our cocker spaniel with us). It is located in a perfect spot for the town centre... More

Had a meal here last month, very nicely presented and tasted delicious. Prices were a little on the high side but you do get great food. I had a lunch here with a friend and we ended up paying £25 with drinks as a guide for newcomers. Very nice surroundings and you can have a drink outside in the sun.... More

We were looking for dog friendly places in Pembrokeshire & found this super pub with excellent rooms! We are so lucky. The rooms are superb. Plenty of space in new furniture to store our "stuff", very very comfy beds, lovely subtle lighting. Ambience in rooms & corridors is lovely. Lovely big screen TV on wall. Shower is the "bestest", with... More

Stayed here whilst walking the Pembrokeshire coast path. Very modern and comfortable accommodation with great shower. Good choice of beer too but best point has to be the food, excellent choice and all our courses were of highest standard. This place is way above pub food.

A pleasant pub/hotel/restaurant in the centre of this very nice village, it consists of a long bar running along the front of the pub along with a small snug to one side and a restaurant at the rear. Staff seemed friendly enough and there was a pool table at one end. Décor wise, it’s quite traditional with black beams on... More

Just back from another great stay at this lovely pub nestled in the village of Newport just a few hundred yards from the Parrog with its beautiful views out to sea. Having been returning visitors over the past decade it is wonderful to see this little business thrive and grow as the accommodation and the restaurant have been upgraded and... More
