We stayed for one night and had breakfast there the next morning. The room was clean, modern, recently refurbished and very comfortable. En suite bathroom was pristine and new. Totaly bowled over by the newly refurbished rooms, the traditional bar with real ales and the restaurant should probably have a Rosette ! Newport is a lovely sleepy holiday destination and the Golden Lion is well worth visiting. I was only expecting a country pub with B&B this is something special. more

This has been our tenth year at staying at this hotel. We were bowled over by the new rooms (the old ones were in much need of an update) and had a fabulous stay. The Staff were so friendly and welcoming on arival and all weekend. As for the rooms, they were very comfortable and clean at a reasonable price.
