We booked this restaurant on a Thursday night in September, there were only two other diners booked in which was disappointing, The quality of the food was excellent and everything freshly prepared while you wait. This restaurant does not seem to be that popular with locals which is such a pity as it is very reasonably priced and good value... more

Stayed a Saturday night, with dinner booked for 4 in the evening. Hotel looks very nice - Newport is a lovely small village on the coast. Parking in next doors drive (owners live there apparently). Nice welcome and shown to rooms - x2 attic rooms. All very nicely done out. Modern bedroom and bathroom. Nice beds, small fridge and glasses... more

We had a lovely weekend break and the room at Llys Meddyg was all we expected. However, we expected small and friendly, but the staff seemed too busy to be friendly and this let the hotel down. It was particularly so in the Garden Room which was a restaurant in the Garden of the Hotel where the staff seemed rushed... more

Looks good. Meals good although can't offer wholemeal toast at breakfast - no matter how often requested. Staff pleasant seemed to be working hard but let down by poor systems. For example in 5 nights nobody once enquired about our satisfaction with the room or how well we slept. If they had enquired we would have told them that our... more

After a long drive we would have welcomed anything horizontal but found ourselves in a spacious room with enormous bed, sumptuous bathroom and plenty of space for relaxing. We had requested a room at the back as the A487 runs past the front , the one thing that spoils Newport -with terrific beaches in front and the Preseli hills at the... more

Haveing recently had a weeks holiday in different hotels and B&B's in west wales, Llys Meddyg is by far the best I stayed in. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and home made cookies in our room. The room was done out to a high standard and very comfortable. We booked into the restraunt at 8 o'clock, I... more

We didn't stay in this hotel but this was a return visit to this restaurant, after having had a wonderful meal here before. And we werent disappointed again. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Yes the prices are the higher end of the market but you are not paying for pub food with... more

We booked a wedding that they cancelled 6 weeks before the date. The reason? Their events coordinator can not organise events, and when challenged about the poor organisation and rude tone of their emails they decided they would rather cancel the wedding than find a solution. I assume therefore that when they get a complaint about staff conduct they just... more

I returned to Llys Meddys with my wife for a short break and was even more impressed the second time. It is not cheap, but it is good. The rooms are very nicely done. Quality and attention to detail. The food is very good - again not cheap. I tired the Cnapan up the road and found Llys Meddyg to... more
