Another great pub in the Newport area. We ate in the bar as there was a Christmas do on in the restaurant. Hubby had the fish and chips I had the lamb shank. We both enjoyed our meals, especially the great selection of vegetables that arrived with the meals. A bit pricey but I think the area generally is. Two... More

My boyfriend and me are travelling around in Wales and found this Inn lately in the afternoon. The room we've got is gorgeous as well as the food served in the restaurant where a very nice and attentive waiter served incredibly delicious dishes. We are looking forward to the breakfast tomorrow. Especially after having a good nights sleep in this... More

My husband and I called in for Sunday lunch. It was carvery, plates small, food luke warm, everything swimming in cream, butter and oil. The gravy was very thin and everything lacked seasoning. Don't waste you money, much better food in the Golden lion down the road.

1st impressions: dingy bar, musty bedroom. Chose triple room "with seaview" over quadruple room without (that was the choice - travelling solo). Seaview more a view of the roofs of Newport, with some sea in the distance. No shower, no desk or dressing table. Small cheap sounding TV. Broken lamp still plugged into the wall. Room in eaves so really... More

We are so sorry that the broken lamp was missed by our staff, this has now been removed and replaced. In regard to the pub bring dingy, it is a 200 year old character pub with lots of charm which is normally enjoyed by our customers. We note that you were offered our other rooms but chose the attic room... More

We booked this Inn as a pet friendly overnight stopover so only stayed here for the one night but would have no problem in staying here again. The staff made us and our dog welcome and our room was a good size, clean and comfortable, Unfortunately not blown away by our food but it was ok and reasonably priced for... More

Went here with husband for birthday supper 26th August. The choice on starter menu superb we both had the duck and orange salad with white beans and chorizo. This was an innovative and very tasty dish. We followed this with steaks which again were cooked perfectly. Staff were well informed and very pleasant. If you are in area give castle... More

I stopped here recently with family and had such a nice time. The staff were so attentive (we're a difficult bunch to feed with food issues,) they were so patient and our meal was amazing. The pub is so lovely and welcoming, traditional decor and so clean! We'll be back again for sure.

After a two week holiday in different places in Pembrokeshire we have visited - 4 friends - the Restaurant. Lovely service can't hide the poor quality of the food. We cannot recomment to eat in the Restaurant. The Bar however was nice. The soup of the day was made of tomato-power. The cod incredibly fat. And a crab-soup for more... More

The Castle Inn provides an outstanding service. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and at the end of a very busy shift were still smiling. The choice of food was also exceptional, well presented and beautifully hot. Thank you for making our first nights stay in Pembrokeshire so special.

We had lunch at the Castle recently and what a treat it was. Firstly the pub is lovely - the one and only main road through Newport is quite narrow so be careful you don't miss it. It has its own small car park and there are others nearby. If you do go past it then turn around! it is... More
