Beautiful hotel, but the rooms are very minimalist ie: no chair to sit on. Room service forgot to deliver main meal to room (when due back late, and meal had been preordered). Cleaning of room needs to be alot better. Will not return. Staff too eager to finish shift and go home.

We stayed at the Grosvenor for 3 nights with a Car Club over Easter 2015. We have to stay that everyone was impressed with the rooms, food and helpfulness of the staff. Absolutely excellent. Two minutes from main shopping street and railway station, staff helpful and polite. Room a bit dated and tatty in places but large and had fridge, flat screen tv, kettle etc plus free WiFi . Free parking opposite hotel. We ate in restaurant it was very good and well priced, main courses start at 18 NZ$.

The room we got was quite recent renovated but the bathroom was pretty worn and smelled of smoke. Free wifi in the room but no refrigerator. There was a nice pub in the hotel. Am I frequent guest of this hotel and am pleased with the new look they have established over the last couple of years. Front desk is always helpful and kind. Bar and restaurant are always great place to relax and have dinner and a few drinks. Rooms are always tidy and clean. Good service for the price.
