The draw for us to stay here was Mt Sunday and its role in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. However, this location has a magic thats very much of its own and its appeal is far more broad. We stayed in the Stag Hill Cottage. Whilst not luxurious, it is very comfortable and well equipped and has a... More

We stayed for a couple of nights in this extremely spectacular setting and couldn't have been more comfortable. Hosts were friendly and helpful. A large group was expected one night for dinner and we were invited to join afterwards at our private table and enjoy the food prepared. Despite the wind and cold the room was wonderfully warm thanks to... More

We spent our last night on the south island at the Mt Potts Lodge and what a special last night that was! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We checked in and then headed out for sunset on Mount Sunday. We didn't bother to keep track of time and unfortunately by the time we returned (late) the kitchen was... More

My main purpose in visiting Mt Potts Lodge was to be able to get out and enjoy some nature and scenery I might otherwise have a hard time accessing. While I love a good tramp, I am not yet in the habit of gearing up for several days out in the wild, living in huts - although certainly if you... More

We have spent wonderfull days in Mt Potts Lodge. Surroundings was amazing, En Suite rooms comfortable and staff really friendly. Climbing Mt. Sunday is not difficult and offers beautiful views. And climbing Mt. Potts is more challenging one day trip but offers much more beautiful view to the valley.

We had heard how wonderful Mt Potts was as a place to stay in our camper. After waiting some time to speak to someone in a bar where someone was walking around with a “loaded” bow and arrow I asked if we were in the right place. “no, we no longer do that – it is an old publication” she... More

I stayed here with a 15 year old exchange student who is a big LOTR fan. We both absolutely loved our time at Mt Potts. It was a real highlight of our whole South Island trip. The scenery is spectacular - photos don't do it justice at all. Even though I'm not a LOTR fan myself, it felt very special... More

The room was recently renovated and was excellent. The staff were al friendly and helpful. The only down was the fact that the restaurant was not running due to the chef leaving shortly before we arrived. We managed with the microwave in the room and the help of the staff. The walking in the surrounding area is challenging but rewarding... More

Wow beautiful surroundings, we stayed up at Mt Potts as part of an adventure race. The accomodation was a great set up and fantastic to have the lodge right there with a cosy fire, resturant and bar. We got to see a lot of amazing parts of the area on our race but I definitely want to go back and... More

We stayed here for the Mystery Lake Adventure Race and thought it was fantastic. The setting is stunning, with the remoteness of it all adding to the experience. Perfect location for a get-away from the hustle and bustle. Our room was excellent, easily fitting four of us and all our gear. Highly reccommend for a weekend away. Thanks
