In the middle of a horrible storm we decided to get out of Auckland. We saw some reviews on Trip Advisor and booked Waves. We arrived in the wild weather and found a happy host. Nice touch to give us a small torch in case of power cuts. The room was a one bed(queen) with spa bath. Nice big spa... More

Fantastic 5 star experience. We usually stay at the Langham in Auckland but this time needed to stay on the North Shore. Although it is hard to compare a motel with a hotel, we found the standard of rooms, cleanliness and service rivals 5 star hotels that we stay at throughout the world

Friends that were staying here recommended that I book also. I had booked a garden spa room. It was very spacious and comfortable. If I stayed for more than 1 night, I would've used the spa, as it looked like it would've been divine. Next time. The staff were friendly and check-in was fast. My friends had booked an inter-connecting... More

The Waves motel is fun. Nice spacious rooms, friendly service, good location. And of course the wonderful Jacuzzi bathtub. Just the right place to stay after a long day of motorbike riding. Only the distance to the next restaurant can be a bit long on a rainy day.

Feels like a cross between a hotel and motel. We found it very modern, comfortable and spacious. The staff were very accommodating and provided great fold out beds for the kids. Good location too (about 4 houses down from the beach).

Stayed here for two nights for a wedding at the Ambers. The first night we booked on booking.com, but our circumstances changed and we telephoned Ken who had room for us. A one bedroomed apartment in the corner on the first floor with a Jacuzzi, kitchen and separate lounge. We loved the location being yards from the beach and a... More

This was a one night stand as we made our way from Paihia to Auckland. We were greeted warmly by our host, a pleasant Japanese chap and were very happy with the studio suite which was in immaculate condition. We had a comfortable king size bed and the hotel felt like it was almost new. We received beach towels for... More

We spent one night here driving to the Bay of Islands. The accommodation is quite good, but as this was more expensive than anywhere else we stayed in New Zealand we did not consider it to be outstanding. Quite a long way to the shops, restaurants etc and although near the beach certainly no beach view.

This was excellent accommodation, just a few steps to beautiful Orewa beach and a short walk to nearby restaurants and shops. Welcoming staff on reception. Actually had a 2 bedroom studio, although only needed the one, so for a family would have been even better value for money.

Wow - what a wonderful surprise! For some unknown reason we were upgraded and we were given a room with a king bed instead of queen. Nice bedroom with TV, a large sitting room with an even bigger TV, desk, table, couch, kitchenette with fridge, microwave, hob, coffee maker, toaster, supplies, etc. Everything is extremely modern and super clean. Beautiful... More
