This hotel was warm and friendly and very convenient for a skiing weekend. The hosts were great and the breakfast excellent. The units are large enough to comfortably fit a family of 4.

If you plan to go on the Tongariro Crossing, the packages this Hotel offers are an excellent choice. The place is located in a quiet street a bit off the highway. It is a 2-minute drive away from the centre of Ohakune, but gives a pleasant impression of privacy and seclusion. The owners (and their puppy) are pleasant and helpful.... More

We did a Tongoriro crossing package and it was brilliant. The breakfasts were huge and delicious, the dinner was lovely, and the overall stay was comfortable. The hosts went out of their way and gave us loads of tips. Is it 5 star, no, but it is perfect for what we were after and we felt it was excellent value.... More

This place was ok, but the way they market themselves - even the name - give the impression it's far better than it is. They need to upgrade this place urgently - it's very dated. Also, in summer the lack of air flow which would be a blessing in mid-winter is a curse - we basically didn't sleep a wink... More

We stayed here as part of a school group booking (with meals included) rooms were warm, clean and comfortable. Our meals were 'the best' and our hosts were very friendly and welcoming and always on hand for help or a chat. Spa was lovely everynight before dinner and kids had plenty of puzzles and board games to play. Thanks Chris... More

I stayed here for 1 night, overpriced compared to the standards of other motel/hotels in town. I found the room to be dusty and the couches had stains all over them, and my duvet cover was stained. The manchester is outdated, I am guessing thats why the stains are there. Every wall was a different colour, blue, yellow, purple painted... More

Our stay at the Tussock Grove was part of a package trip which included 2 breakfasts, a picnic lunch, a dinner, and our shuttle to/from the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. The organizer of our group had forgotten to let the hotel owner know that there would be a vegan in the group - despite no notice and on an Easter weekend... More

The hotel itself is situated about 10min walk outside the Ohakune town centre close to the main road. The hotel had a nice reception and friendly staff/owner, but the rooms were not that good. The biggest problem was that the room was built over two floors with a bed, a couch facing the bed, a desk and a TV upstairs,... More

We stayed as a family of five in one of few places which could accommodate five. The location was great, the owners were lovely, and even had a toy cupboard that the kids could borrow from. The room included seperate bedrooms, lounge and kitchen and there was plenty of space. I recommend this to anyone wanting a good value ski... More

Positives: - Friendly and helpful owners - Clean - Nice lounge Negatives: - A small double bed that was so worn that it felt like sleeping in the bath tub - Bathroom had taps designed 30 years ago, one hot that burns your hand and one cold that freezes it. How about a modern mixer tap ? - You could... More
