spent a few days in this end of Ohakune. usually stay at the junction end so a nice change. very easy, short, flat walk to the cafes, restaurants. warm, very clean and plenty of space in the rooms. hosts Chris and christine are good company and the dog is probably the most fun loving & cute bordie collie ever. Interesting... More

Good old fashioned Cottage room with plenty of room for a large family. 2 showers, 2 toilets, washing machine and dryer, large book case with plenty of reading. Plenty of room heaters but the main bedroom could use a TV. Modern kitchen with all the mod cons plus more cupboard space and utensils than you can ever need. Just off... More

I have to agree with an earlier reviewer regarding the owners attitude. Was all fine until we decided to check out early - then arrogant and rude. We visited for skiing but conditions were poor ie no snow and also walks were limited due to weather. Place was empty but for one other room. Charged us for two extra nights.... More

In response to your comments regarding your visit I would like to clear up a few points. First of all, you made a booking for a six day stay. Therefore, you entered into a contract. On day two you wished to checkout early after maybe doing a guided walk of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. This was subject to weather. The... More

We enjoyed the 'grab one' offer which included 2 great breakfasts, transport out to Horopito for us to bike the "Old Coach Rd' with the packed lunch provided. Delicious healthy dinner on our 2nd night. Accommodation was clean and warm - only a short walk into town to a variety of restaurants.

We got a 2 night stay from Grabone and it was very good value, breakfast was great with a varied choice. We were given a packed lunch on the Saturday which was really nice and plentiful. Evening meal was good. The hotel itself was very clean and had everything we wanted, it is slightly dated but no that much compared... More

I stayed here with my husband and two friends a couple of nights whilst during tramping in Tongariro Crossing. Our host Chris was lovely. He got up early and made us a delicious breakfast with a variety of menu selections and made us yummy sandwiches and little treats for our tramping in Tongariro Crossing. When we got back exhausted from... More

The highlights of this Motel are Brodie the dog and Chris who is a very good host. The location is easy to find, but does back onto the highway, so there is traffic noise up to about 11pm and from 3.30am. That being said the rooms are comfortable with nice beds and everything you need except a toaster! Exec rooms... More

My wife and I had a really comfortable stay at this lovely hotel in Ohakune. Chris, our host, was always on hand to help and lots of helpful information. We did the GrabOne deal that included transport to the Tongariro Crossing, a packed lunch and accommodation. This is excellent value for money! Thank you, Chris, for going the extra mile... More

We stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage with our 3 kids. It was a great size, with 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms. Beds were comfortable. It was good to have a really big lawn in front with the petanque court - heaps of space for running and playing. Obviously being on the state highway means you need to actively supervise... More

We had two very enjoyable nights at Tussock Grove so we could hike in the area around Ohakune. The owners were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. It was a huge help being dropped off at Horopito for the 16km walk back to Ohakune through the Tongariro National Park. The small unit was cosy with a bedroom upstairs and a small... More
