We only stayed for one night and ate dinner in town. The room was spotlessly clean and looked like it was recently renovated. The beds were comfortable - we had a one bedroom unit. The lighting was very dull and not so good for reading but this seems to be pretty common these days. One real problem is that the... More

Thanks for your thoughtful review. Yes this alpine climate can take guests from warmer places by surprise - it's one of the down sides of living this close to a ski field. Sometimes rooms may take a little time to warm up. Our tips for visitors from June- Oct- - Ohakune is 600m above sea level, (Queenstown is at 300... More

As per the previous reviews, we found the managers really friendly and helpful, room was spotlessly clean and furnishings comfortable and exactly what you would expect in this price range. We only have one we gripe, the fan heater on the wall struggled to keep the room warm and is too noisy to leave on overnight. We did strike some... More

We chose The Peaks Motor Inn after reading reviews on Trip Advisor and they proved a good guide. Reception staff were very helpful in suggesting alternate activities when our flight over the National Park fell through. They insisted on telephoning and making bookings for me. The room was very comfortable although we could hear the laundry next door. I would... More

Easy check in and helpful staff. Room was spacious, very clean and tidy. Basic kitchenette and amenities. We had a spa bath in our room, that was nice. It was value for money. We would stay there again.

One of the highpoints of our trip to New Zealand was doing the spectacular Tongariro Crossing in perfect weather. The delightful and brilliant manager at the Peaks Motor Inn had it all arranged for us when we arrived. He treated us like welcomed friends, and made sure we were armed with all the information we needed for the Crossing and... More

The room was spotless clean and very spacious, and so was the bathroom. The hot tub is great for relaxing after having spent the day hiking the Tongariro Crossing. The kitchen is well equipped, you will everything you need for breakfast. Ohakune is a nice village, offering plenty of restaurants, etc.

Thanks for pointing out that this is a good base for doing the Tongariro Crossing from. We have had many years of people arriving here after doing it and wishing they had stayed here or in Ohakune first. From Ohakune there are still many other things to do and see afterwards - and good restaurants too. We are only 900... More

Good bedrooms but nothing too special but very clean and quite spacious. Would recommend staying in Ohakune as it is such a beautiful little mountain town. Good value for money this motel. Only weird experience was that we had locked out door from the inside and our neighbour from next door (who had a bit too much to drink) was... More

Hi, thanks for your comments - although it would have been really helpful if you had told us about the door while you were here, as we have just had all the locks upgraded and we could have immediately referred it back to the locksmith for checking. To date we've haven't had any security issues, but thank-you for bringing it... More

Great accommodation with lovely hosts. Facilities were good, nice comfy bed, no noise and plenty of room. I liked that there was parking available directly outside of my room so that I could easily haul my luggage to my room. There is quite a large step up to the room on the strip where I was staying, so if you... More

Thanks very much for your review; yes the step up into the rooms is designed to keep the snow out in winter. We have 3 access rooms with a ramped step instead. More

I'v been there for one night. Really clean and comfortable place. + for sauna and jacuzzi. I'v got room with kitchen and bath with jacuzzi mode. Minus for limited WiFi. Really enjoy my stay. The continental breakfeast is kinda cheap but there is option to upgrade it.

Thanks for reviewing us. -Wifi is 30 minutes for free, 2 hours for $5 or $10 for 24 hours. Most people find that 30 mins is enough, as they are busy out doing the walks and trips here. Breakfasts:The Peaks is a motel (not a hotel) with a kitchen in every room. We don't specialise in or provide any food... More
