This place is just plain beautiful! If you love the log cabin feeling, this is the place for you. The use of wood throughout the building added a charm and cosy feel to the place. You honestly felt like you were in the Alps on a wonderful skiing vacation. The rooms were really cosy, quiet, and so comfortable. The best... More

2 nights and what a treat! The food was delicious and the pool was divine. Summer is there quiet period but the hotel still felt interesting and engaging. I got good night sleeps both nights and the train is not a worry. Overall a really nice place to stay.

We stayed in the chalet. It was comfortable and cosy. The hotel itself seemed very good. But...there was a strong, off putting cigarette smell in the chalet. Also, the dishwash liquid was in a water bottle. This could be a real problem if a family with young kids stayed in the chalet.

I stayed at this hotel on a 2 weeks trip through New Zealand. It was part of the hotel where the crue of the LOTR stayed. I had the chance to get Elijah Woods room. I had a jacuzzi in the bathroom and I enjoyed a great relaxing bath in the evening. The dinner and breakfast were really nice. Everything... More

Powderhorn Chateau has a nice feel about it. The staff were helpful, particular the restaurant staff. The room was wood panelled, clean and very comfortable with a large storage area. Awesome heated pool and very close to Mt Ruapehu.

In August we had our fourth annual stay at the Powderhorn. It is always great, our home away from home when skiing Mt Ruapehu, and as usual we were well looked after by Annie and her team. Highly recommended. Wish I could take their heated pool home and put it in my bathroom though. :-)

Didn't want to leave, so easy staying at a luxurious lodge a short drive from the snow. Our first time skiing in NZ and will definitely be back and so happy we chose the perfect place to stay the first time around. My husband booked this ski trip from his desk and I think we got lucky with the snow... More

We have stayed here alot over the last few years, but found it this time disapointing. The hotel location is perfect, the closest you can get to the slopes, ie at the bottom of the road up to Turoa. The building is pituresque, like a wooden chalet style. Pool is a highlight and very welcome after a hard day. the... More

I was mostly happy with my stay. The resort is in an amazing location with beautiful views all around, and it's bar, the Powderkeg, is one of the places for late-night drinking and partying. It is close to The Suitcase and whatever the weekend-only dance club is called. So between the three establishments you have plenty of late-night options. The... More

A great location at the foot of the mountain, the rooms are a good size and well furnished. One of the highlights is a large heated indoor pool, ideal after a days skiing. You can even order a drink from the bar while you soak in the large pool. The Chateau has a large bar and restaurant attached, and I... More
