We stayed 4 nights at the Powderhorn. The stay felt as friendly as a ski lodge but as professional as a hotel. Our room was large and comfortable and a pleasure to spend time in relaxing. staff were very attentive and would respond happily to requests for service. The powder keg bar was noisy and fun after a day on the... I recently stayed her for 2 nights over the weekend for a snowboarding trip. Arrived late at 1:30am and the hotel manager on duty was excellent made the check in process a breeze after a long 6 hour drive - when we walked into our beautiful warm spacious room it was just perfect, had everything we needed, a spacious bathroom... I booked the room late and I was advised that the room I had booked was above the restaurant and bar and could be noisy. I confirmed I was ok with this as my Son and I wanted a twin bed and not the pull out bed in the more quieter room. When we got here hotel was lovely ,... More

Special place in special part of NZ. I was blown away by hospitality shown to us here. Nothing too much trouble. Good food, snuggly and surprisingly roomy accomodation. The Powderhorn has real heart. Highly highly recommend. See you soon.

We booked online and I was hoping the place was as good as it looked in the photos, but it's better! The rooms are so cute, all Lockwood and really cosy. The bath in our room is so big and comfy! The weather has been atrocious and this place is exactly where you want to be - a drink by... More

Thank you for your review of the Powderhorn Chateau. Its always good to know people are enjoying what we do down here in Ohakune. The weather has cleared up here and is getting cold enough to get some snow now. We look forward to you visiting again especially if you bring the good luck that helped the Warriors along on... We stayed here for two nights during winter, but not in the ski season so it was pretty quiet. It's not cheap but it's warm, has good rooms and the staff are helpful and pleasant. The attached Powderkeg restaurant is reasonably priced and provides good food and service in a warm, pleasant atmosphere. Convenient to the national park and some... More

We stayed here April 2014 on our honeymoon - with one day on a cycling tour and another doing the tongariro crossing. Great base. Awesome room with really comfy bed and balcony. Food was delicious and great atmosphere in the restaurant bar. The hot pool was perfect for aching muscles. Staff were very helpful and bar staff were good fun.... More

We stopped for the night in Ohakune on our way south to a weddng and thankfully found this hotel at the last minute. Lots of character, super comfortable beds, a huge bath, room service breakfast and a balcony with river views, reminded me how much more I enjoy boutique hotels to chain. Nothing was too much fuss for the owner/managers)... More

This hotel is great and our whole family felt really at home here. The kids loved exploring the big wooden building and the apartment had heaps of space to relax, play board games, watch movies with a couple of room service pizzas and we had a great sleep in the comfy beds. I would have liked to have a bigger... More

We chose to visit Ohakune off-season. Although quiet, the service was excellent and attentive. The food in the restaurant is high quality and worth a night in the hotel restaurant. Located away from the centre of the town, and close to local bush walks that which provide a nice alternative to the ski fields.
