Great place to stay. The rooms were large, clean, comforable and quiet. Devon and Pete were very accomodating. They provided us with helpful guidance, suggestions and helped explain New Zealand driving customs. They also have deer on their farm.

Fantastic place to stay with wonderful hosts. Rooms are very spacious and warm. Bed was super comfy. Private lounge is perfect for relaxing in own space. Feeding the deer was a treat for my 8 year old city kid and a great distraction from minecraft :-) Thanks Pete and Devon!

A bed and breakfast with a twist. They farm deer. The result is you can order a venison meal which will be home cooked and served to you in the guest lounge. Not cheap, but really deliscious. The rooms were OK. We had a little trouble with a slooping roof in the bedroom, but otherwise all was well. The guest... More

I was working in travel for the last 15 years and am quite fussy. But I can not recommend Cairnbraea House enough for the friendly and professional service, the spaces sunny rooms and delicious breakfast. Well done Peter and Devon. I will be back. Roland

You'll be greeted by Campbell the Labrador, one of the farmstead pets, and Devon and Peter - all very friendly! The guest lounge was huge and we had it to ourselves. Our own super-king room had the most enormous bed with ultra soft bedding - difficult to get out of in the morning. From the windows you could see the... More

Really great place to stay and relax. The house is really big and well decorated, the rooms are spacious. The owners are very friendly - they help us book the transport for Tongariro crossing. One night we order a dinner and it was really delicous and healthy. Everything home made. Next to the house there is a small deer farm.... More

This accommodation is in a house on a lifestyle-size block in a rural location about 10 minutes from Ohakune, a small town with a suprisingly excellent selection of eating establishments. Our room was very nice, maybe a bit on the small side, but there was a very large shared lounge area right outside the room to our door, with some... More

We booked our stay in Cairnbrae House as it looked lovely and in such an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Tongiriro National Park. The accomodation was just outside Ohakune and sat amongst stunning grounds with a view of Mt Ruapehu. Our room was a lovely light room with private balcony and we had access to a guest only lounge... If you are planning to spend some time in Tongariro National Park on New Zealand's North Island, I suggest you consider staying at the Cairnbrae House B&B in nearby Ohakune on the southern flank of the park. The home is absolutely lovely (with large well-decorated rooms and private baths) the friendly owners have lots of suggestions for local hikes, and... More

My husband and I recently returned from a trip to New Zealand which focused on the National Parks, as we love to hike. If you wish to spend some time in Tongariro National Park (which is absolutely beautiful, ranging from snow-covered peaks to rain forests) you will find lodging is very limited (and pricey) within the park. I would like... More
